L is for Lately.

Two prominent pop girls of the early 00s scored a #6 hit each with a track titled 'Lately'. Samantha Mumba was first to release, in December 2001, choosing to take a US #1 hit from a few years before that failed to gain much traction in the UK and give it a bit more life. The song served as the final single from her one and only album. Fast forward to May 2003 and the much anticipated debut solo single from Lisa Scott-Lee came in the form of 'Lately', which is to date her only top 10 single.

I've voted for Samantha as it's a lovely ballad and I bought that too. Not sure I've heard Lisa's before but a it's bop so was tougher than I thought. Expecting the latter to dominate though.

Going with Lisa. Samantha's version definitely beats the original for me but it's still that midtempo R&B I generally find boring (bar some exceptions lol).
