September 27Sep 27 Author 1. Livin’ Joy – Dreamer1 week at number 1, MayLivin’ Joy are an Italian dance music production outfit, with vocals on this track by New Yorker, Janice Robinson. I think this was quite a shock number 1 at the time, it however grew organically due to its re-issue following a modest success in 1994. The best number 1 of 1995 by far which taps into my love of mid-90s dance. Classic!
September 27Sep 27 The clear top 3 for me would definitely be Oasis/Livin' Joy/Coolio so I'm not way off your outcome. I'm not actually sure how I'd rank those top 3 as I really enjoy them all - although like you I prefer Acquiesce to Some Might Say, albeit only marginally.
September 27Sep 27 I love Dreamer, so glad it got to No.1 as so many of the early to mid 90s dance classics stalled at 2 or lower in the top 10. Great No.1!Thanks @Jester It's been a fun countdown to follow! Hopefully someone else will pick up other 90s years (or 80s even). This is my '95 rank, it is very close between the top two which are both all-time favourites:LoveNever ForgetDreamerBack For GoodGangsta's ParadiseLikeSome Might SayFairgroundCotton Eye JoeThink TwiceCountry HouseDon't mindEarth SongBoom Boom BoomBoombasticBoringLove Can Build A BridgeYou Are Not AloneCrapDon't Stop (Wiggle Wiggle)I Believe/Up On The RoofUnchained Melody/White Cliffs Of Dover
September 28Sep 28 Love 'Dreamer' so much, total anthem. Always go crazy if I hear it on a night out.I think 'Some Might Say' might be my favourite Oasis song.
September 28Sep 28 A seeerious Top 5. I’d certainly swap out “Country House” for “Gansta’s Paradise” but orherwise I approve. I’ve also always loved “Think Twice” - it was very uncool to like it in my class at school but that didn’t stop me.
September 28Sep 28 Livin' Joy's is a good dance track, I'd put it top 10 probably top 5, but Oasis' didnt quite click as big as Whatever and Live Forever had. I preferred Beatles "inspired" singles to "Slade-punkish". I like it though. My top 5? Earth Song, Back For Good, Gangsta's Paradise, Fairground, and either Think Twice or Dreamer.

If hosts aren't yet confirmed, I'd be happy to do 98 or 99 when it comes around, maybe the latter as I already have made a BuzzJack Presents album (and a dance companion album that I think went mostly unnoticed) for 1999 that I could re-promote in the thread 😄 Edited September 28Sep 28 by gooddelta

So that’s confirmed!I’m doing 96 and 97 next so then it’ll be over to you for 98 and 99!Myself, dandy and King Rollo will then cover the rest of the 80s and 90s.
September 28Sep 28 1995 was a lot better for #2s than #1s for the most part, but the top here shows the best of them. Dreamer is one of the best 90s dance tracks and Some Might Say is a classic Oasis track with just about all the trademarks (big guitars, nonsensical lyrics) that made them iconic.Country House is not one of the best for Blur and I do wish one of Tender or Song 2 would've made it instead, but it's still decent and reflective of a huge cultural chart battle. Gangsta's Paradise is a hip hop classic with timely themes and a great use of a sample and the two Take That number 1s were some of their best material. I think those 3, Dreamer and Some Might Say would make up my top 5 x
September 28Sep 28 That's not a great year for number 1 singles, there are a few that I don't mind listening to but nothing really stands out. I would choose Celine Dion's 'Think Twice' as being the best number 1 from the year.
