I don't think it's about being "smart" either. The album was written/produced in 10 days, probably not too long ago, and I don't think they could've ever foreseen (though, they'd have hoped) it would garner such attention and support. You can't just pull physicals out of your arse if they're not made, just because something has been surprisingly popular.

It'll probably repeak in January anyway, maybe even during a quiet week it could reach #1, what with the physicals already available for pre-order.

Probably not going to be top 100 by Friday even if it's hanging on today. A chunk of her physicals aren't dispatching until next week and she's being outstreamed by neolithic era artists.

I think it was more a US chart thing as she currently has identical chart points to Golden in their unofficial midweeks.

I actually really disagree - everyone knows salicious gossip sells music - look at Miley with Flowers. I think there was an expectation a lot of people would be talking about this album as it's a very public divorce album. No disrespect to the album as it's brilliant but I think it's incorrect to say there isn't expectations for the album to do well.

Madeleine also feels very ready for TikTok.

I get your point because the album, by design, was always going to get curiosity listens but this well? Off the back of a #8 album with no top 100 singles?

It could’ve just as easily been met with “I don’t care” and a view that she’s old news now. Hindsight is a beautiful thing but I don’t think anyone could say they thought it’d have the level of success that it is (outstreaming Dave etc).
