  • The only other time I got kicked out was also music related. I was caught miming to hymns in assembly (as wasn't in the mood to sing that day)! Made to stand outside the hall, the shame.

  • Cher - Believe Rate: 10/10: Reason: Cher is one of those artists that has always been there, for as long as I can remember and is still scoring hits, DJ Play A Christmas Song top 20 only two years ag

  • I do really like 'Goodbye', but unfortunately it was used at a friend's funeral in 2018 and I haven't really been able to listen to it since as it's too much to bear. 'It's Like That' is a banger tho

'Viva Forever' is my fave Spice Girls track. It's such a mysterious and wonderful ballad. A much deserved runner up and would be top 2 for me as well.

'Believe' is another one that is a euphoric as ever though. Like you was spamming it pretty hard when out like the nation. Was a really great era for her in sound too.

Been fun following this Rich. 98 also a fab year for myself too for music but so was 99 so looking forward to seeing you run that too!

Thanks for taking on 1998 Rich, it was a joy to follow and I loved your little snapshots into your memories from the time and how they formed your love of music and the charts <3

Cher was my preferred #1 from the top 3 so I'm glad it won out, it was so huge at the time that it's difficult to deny what a great pop song it was. It would rank highly for me too, I'd have them something like this:

  1. Cornershop - Brimful Of Asha (Norman Cook Remix)

  2. Madonna - Frozen

  3. Cher - Believe

  4. Manic Street Preachers - If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next

  5. All Saints - Never Ever

  6. Various Artists - Perfect Day

  7. Run DMC vs. Jason Nevins - It's Like That

  8. Spice Girls - Viva Forever

  9. The Tamperer feat. Maya - Feel It

  10. Robbie Williams - Millennium

  11. Baddiel, Skinner and The Lightning Seeds - 3 Lions '98

  12. Jamiroquai - Deeper Underground

  13. Spacedust - Gym and Tonic (it is definitely a cheap cover, but I do like the Bob Sinclar original and this is basically a note for note version)

  14. Aqua - Turn Back Time

  15. B*Witched - C'est La Vie

  16. All Saints - Bootie Call

  17. Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On

  18. Spice Girls - Too Much

  19. Boyzone - No Matter What

  20. Chef - Chocolate Salty Balls (P.S. I Love You)

  21. All Saints - Under The Bridge/Lady Marmalade

  22. Usher - You Make Me Wanna

  23. Aqua - Doctor Jones

  24. Spice Girls - Goodbye

  25. B*Witched - To You I Belong

  26. B*Witched - Rollercoaster

  27. Billie - Girlfriend

Bit late to this, but what a stacked Top 4. Believe, Viva Forever, Never Ever, Frozen, incredible quartet of songs. 'Believe' an absolute classic.
