Can we have "Proper Crimbo" back in charts again?

This is the highest a non-Christmas song has been while on ACR in December - previous best was 'Dance Monkey' at #10 in 2019.

Biography

Sam Fender crafts the kind of tenacious anthemic rock that punches straight at the gut. Born and raised in 1994 in the northeastern English town of North Shields, the singer/songwriter first picked up a guitar at age 10 and began playing gigs locally as a teen to help support him and his mother. But it wasn’t until he started writing music for himself—rather than what he thought others wanted to hear—that everything started to click. That’s when he wrote his 2017 debut single, “Play God”, a propulsive, politically charged slice of indie rock. It came from a place of deep desperation, “a time where I was like, ‘I need to prove myself. I need to do something that cuts through,’” he told Apple Music. The track earned him a slot on BBC’s Sound of 2018 shortlist, which led to a deal with Polydor Records and the release of his acclaimed 2019 debut, Hypersonic Missiles, an album that channels modern-day anxiety through heartfelt heartland rock. His 2021 follow-up, Seventeen Going Under, hit even harder, pumped full of soaring arrangements and bold statements that continue to prove Fender’s power as a mighty millennial voice for the working class. - Apple Music

Biography

Singer Brenda Lee was one of the first country artists to cross over to pop audiences, and she was the highest-charting female artist of the 1960s. At nine years old, Lee joined the cast of the TV show Ozark Jubilee after impressing host Red Foley with her rendition of “Jambalaya.” Her first hit, “One Step At A Time,” released when she was 12, peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Country chart and No. 43 on the Hot 100. Lee’s most famous single, 1958’s “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree,” initially only sold 5,000 copies, but by 1978 it had sold 5 million and continues to be one of the most-played holiday songs. From 1958 to 1962, she had 10 consecutive Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100—a record for a female solo artist that she held for more than 20 years. The 1960 hit “I’m Sorry” earned Lee her first of four Grammy nominations, and and she was honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame in 1997 and the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2002, making her the first woman to earn both distinctions. John Lennon once referred to Brenda Lee as the greatest rock ’n’ roll voice of all time. - Apple Music

Biography

Singer/songwriter Olivia Dean crafts poignant ballads and warm pop anthems, showcasing a deep sense of self-awareness. Born in 1999 in Enfield and raised in Walthamstow, Dean participated in gospel choir at a young age, before busking in the streets and eventually attending the famous BRIT School. Influenced by Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse and Carole King, Dean’s own take on music is autobiographical and vulnerable. In 2019, she released her debut EP, Ok Love You Bye, which delved into the challenging aspects of dating, like on the meditative “Password Change”. The following year, Dean dropped her follow-up EP, What Am I Gonna Do On Sundays?, a concise but evocative set of songs brimming with celestial melodies and confessional lyrics. Dean’s signature introspective style continues to grow more intimate, as evinced by the delicate 2021 EP Growth, highlighted by the soul-baring single “Be My Own Boyfriend”. - Apple Music

Biography

Thirty-plus years in the business, more No. 1 singles than any solo artist in history (and second overall only to The Beatles), more writing and production credits on those singles than any other female composer—Mariah Carey is one of the few artists whose songs legitimately bridge the confessional intimacy of singer-songwriters with the mass appeal of pop. Carey grew up on the classics: Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight. She moved to New York City after high school, cobbling together jobs while working on demos with then-collaborator Ben Margulies at the back of Margulies’ father’s cabinet factory. Her biggest tracks—from the early, dance- and gospel-influenced “Someday” and “Dreamlover” to the club leanings of “Fantasy” and “Honey” to ballads such as “Forever” and “Always Be My Baby” to the ultimate holiday pop song “All I Want for Christmas Is You"—stand like mile markers in the culture. And her guest turn on 2022’s remix of Latto’s “Big Energy” (which interpolates Mariah's “Fantasy”) is further testament to her continued relevance. She captures a feeling of sweetness and euphoria that straddles pop, hip-hop, and R&B without slotting neatly into any of them. Meanwhile, her melismatic style—a technique that entails singing a single syllable with a long run of notes—redefined our sense of what pop vocals sound like. Mimi, The Elusive Chanteuse, The Imperfect Angel...or maybe just Mariah. - Apple Music
