Only reached number 24 in 1973 when first released. I wonder why?

Yeh it’s weird because he was huge at this point at the end of his first big era. People all say it’s because Wizzard and Slade dominated that year but I’m not sure that’s a reason. It does well now as it’s a classic that’s built year on year and it’s Sir Elton!!

I've noticed that Underneath The Tree beats Santa Tell Me here, but Santa Tell Me beats Underneath The Tree in the States.

I’m used to America having no taste

Santa Tell Me is one of the worst Christmas songs of all time. Up there with the McCartney stinker

Kelly finally becoming that Christmas top 10 staple!! I do hope it can go top 3/5 eventually. Kinda hoping there's an outside shot of her being number 1 at some point and causing an upset to Wham or Mariah.

For a Christmas song it’s still early days, in 20 years it’ll only be in the position Mariah is in now and by then her song will be half a century old and who knows where AIWFCIY will be then?

The big 3 Christmas songs being "Last Christmas", "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree". "Underneath The Tree" is not far behind the big 3 in 4th place.

I'd rather 'I Love Christmas' by Fast Food Rockers to get recognition instead.

I'm imminently checking this out.

EDIT: MEH

It got him close to his first top 40 hit in decades in 2009 or whenever it was released!
