All my least faves of the year (Myles Smith, Nice To Each Other, Soda Pop and Nokia) gone in that 11-20 section. Don't even know half of the top 10!

  • Ugh just walked into Tesco and “Nice To Meet You” is playing - OK scratch that I do hate it!

wouldn't quite say that myself but I did find it quite odd that it (and Nice To Each Other) were deemed offensive enough for the hatechart I suppose it has had a lengthy chart run which never helps b

  • I feel similar, most of the list was varying shades of average rather than much I actually hated. I do enjoy ‘Daisies’, ‘Your Idol’ and ‘squabble up’, so hopefully the latter drops out ASAP.

Bloodline and Golden I love - and actually quite like the Taylor tracks - but I agree - so many of these songs are overrated.

And I like Eternity - but none of the top 10 appeals to me apart from ‘I’m The Problem’.

#10. Jack Black ~ Steve's Lava Chicken [79 points]

Most hated: JosephCarey, dancember [12 points]

Starting off proceedings is the incredibly irritating soundtrack hit from the Minecraft movie. Jack Black had already cursed our ears with 'Peaches' from the Mario movie but this managed to be even worse even with it being mercifully short.

#09. Playboi Carti ~ Evil Jordan [79 points]

Most hated: Sami Hook Jama, JosephCarey [8 points]

Next up Playboi Carti with a song whose title is at least self-aware but the song itself has little to show for. It landed in the top 10 from being the lead track to his hyped album but exited the top 40 only 2 weeks later.

#08. Central Cee ~ Truth in the Lies (feat. Lil Durk) [86 points]

Most hated: Mack [12 points]

Released alongside his debut studio album this was another attempt at crossing over to the American market by guesting Lil Durk who's had considerably more success overseas. Besides Buzzjack's usual hate-on for Cench this also heavily sampled a much better song's instrumental in Ne-Yo's "So Sick".

#07. Drake ~ Gimme A Hug [88 points]

Most hated: gasman449, Sergej [8 points]

It wouldn't be the Buzzjack hate chart without Drake in the top 10 then would it? This one was put out as part of his Partynextdoor collaborative album but unsurprisingly it was the two Drake solo cuts from it that ended up doing the most in the chart. The song addressed his Kendrick beef and didn't have a pop hook which I guess is why it's outdone 'Nokia' here.

#06. Kendrick Lamar ~ Squabble Up [94 points]

Most hated: …ready for it [12 points]

Now for the song that least deserves a hate chart top 10 placement in my opinion we have Kendrick back here again after 'Not Like Us' placed 7th last year. Toward the very end of 2024 he put out a surprise album of which this was the initial single from it and I guess was the most annoying to Buzzjack for its NLU similarities.

Also how dare you slag off jack blacks peaches 😤😤 I hope the super Mario galaxy movie has a bop this good 🙌🤭

#05. Central Cee ~ GBP (feat. 21 Savage) [97 points]

Most hated: PedroNL25, WhoOdyssey, Viper* [12 points]

Buzzjack continues to take a disliking to Cench as he has two songs in the top five. Firstly a track with a fellow British-born rapper in 21 Savage thought again going after some sweet USD and rapping about the usual. His Dave collab was spared from a Hatechart spot at least.

#04. Morgan Wallen ~ I'm the Problem [98 points]

Most hated: Sami Hook Jama, Sergej, Jack [12 points]

One of America's biggest stars in not just country music but music altogether now Morgan Wallen has increasingly seen some level of UK success getting a #1 album that shares its title with this song that narrowly missed a top 40 peak. Unfortunately it's one of his more annoying efforts to date with the title being more sarcastic than any real admission of his general unpleasantness.

#03. Drake ~ Which One (feat. Central Cee) [101 points]

Most hated: Riser [12 points]

Drake & Cench together now which was never going to be much of a critical success, and not even much of a commercial one in the States either however the collective name power got it into the UK top 5. It's them both on autopilot anyway and certainly not what Drake needs to win back the fans he lost in the Kendrick beef.

#02. Sexyy Red and Bruno Mars ~ Fat, Juicy & Wet [101 points]

Most hated: Paramore [12 points]

In what must've been an attempt to recreate the magic virality of "WAP", one of the current crop of fad rappers in Sexyy Red made a similarly explicit song but not in the fun way more in the irritating too much way. It's even not helped by a Bruno Mars rapped hook which is just as cringe as the Sexyy verses - very much a downgrade for him after assisting Lady Gaga and Rosé, not just critically but very much commercially too as this could only scrape the top 40 for a week.

#01. Alex Warren ~ Ordinary [107 points]

Most hated: ElectroBoy, Henessy Lake [12 points]

Well you probably saw this coming so with no big buildup your least favoured hit of the year was also the biggest hit of the year in 'Ordinary'. The song took a few weeks to edge to the top of the chart but then refused to budge for the longest time afterwards, despite being quite a dull and critically panned song it was all over social media reels and clearly the 'summer anthem' the public was in the mood for to match the big meh of a year 2025 has been. I wish we'd have left this kind of beige back in the 2010s but lowest common denominator singer songwriter pop is always gonna sell clearly. We can only hope this guy turns out a one-album wonder but for now, Alex Warren has the dishonour of winning the 2025 Hatechart. mansoncheer

“Ordinary” is average rather than hateful. Its main crime is being much bigger than it deserves, but that’s it really. But I don’t think there were many strong contenders this year in general.

Thanks for running though Dan!

Ordinary is fine, very mediocre but fine. I assume some of its votes here are due to it hanging around for ages and way overperforming the song quality. In which case Nice To Meet You and Nice To Each Other should both have been easily inside the top 10 too!
