Very surprised "Hounds Of Love" didnt do better, thought it would be right up the streets of some voters here! Futureheads are local legends here so had to score them highly.

Certainly the best Kate Bush cover I know, but it still isn’t Kate.

The cut off point has been reached! It's the same points score as last year. 101 singles had a points total greater than 61 points. There were two on 62 points so I've allowed them both through rathe

VOTING HAS NOW CLOSED Thanks to the 40 people who voted. The results will start this evening.

  • Having a slice of toast while watching the evening news in honour. “I Hear You Now” was a gorgeous discovery at the 80s hit sessions, but I couldn’t quite fit it into my votes.

Placebo's version of RUTH gives it a run for its money!

It came close to my points but not close enough. An all time classic intro.

I love Peaches, it got decent points from me. Love Pulp too but Help The Aged isn't in my top 3 from the This Is Hardcore album. If the rate was based on music videos, Come In To My World would have got points - it's the one where multiple versions of Kylie walk round a crossroads yes?

Sash! ft Shannon - Move Mania and Cascada - Miracle are big dance music losses in this, although at least they did get quite a lot of points.

'Trap Queen' brings back good 2015 memories - Fetty Wap certainly has quite a unique sound! 'Trap Queen' is getting a streaming chart revival at the moment.

Oh darn, National Express would've got points from me but I must've missed it on the list :'( probably not enough to get through mind, very funny and infectious song.

Lots of great songs going out today and another two losses for me (Jason Donovan and the Beautiful South).

'Move Mania' is easily one of Sash's best, such an irresistibly catchy chorus!

'Come Into My World' may not quite be top tier Kylie but it's still a great song, and the video for it is absolute genius - I still don't quite get what technical camera tricks they used to film it!

Always liked Lovelight by Robbie. One of my favourites from him.

Despite Rudebox being one of my favourite albums of his, 'Lovelight' is one of my least favourite singles! It's not bad, I just find it a bit nothing-y.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Robbie pre 2005/6, he had some ok songs for me though. I think my favourite from that era is Advertising Space.

When looking at all these drop-outs, it is becoming obvious how difficult it is to select 10-20 songs from it.

Going out for me since:

For me, I really got to like George Michael's music a lot more after he passed away, I remember getting "Twenty Five" the Christmas after he passed away this is an great sample that was used from George Michael. I do hope that the original 'Flawless' has at least qualified for the semi-finals. George Michael still very much missed.

Thought that this would have an certainly to qualify for the semi-finals. I can remember from April to July of that year that this track was everywhere on the music channels and on the radio that memory of having to explain why I wasn't able to get the CD single for my sister due to the lyrics in this. I'm probably missing something on the reason that this didn't qualify for the semi-final. Definitely would have had as an seven week #1 in 2007 than 'Bleeding Love'.

It's an rap song of course this wouldn't have qualified, but that intro

RGF Productions
Remy Boyz, yah-ah
1738, ayy

And of course at the end, the legendary Nitt Da Gritt ending:

Yeah, you hear my boy
Sounding like a zillion bucks on a track
I got whatever on my boy, whatever
Put your money where your mouth is

Money on the wood make the game go good
Money out of sight cause fights
Put up or shut up, huh?
Nitt Da Gritt, huh, RGF Productions

I know probably in the minority who actually liked this track.

Yesterday wasn't a good day for Kylie & Jason here. cry I'm sure Padam Padam will go through to the semifinals though,

If I'm not mistaken, I've already lost 8 songs. drama

Yes that's how it works. I think the cutoff in recent years has been around 60 points, but it depends how many are left.

Yes, 62 points was required to go through to the semifinals last year (Ultimate #7 single) and 63 points in 2024 (Ultimate #6 single)

Does anyone know how the number of people who voted this time compares with the previous competitions?

We shouldn't overanalyse - part of the fun of this rate is waiting nervously to find out where the guillotine falls!

Brownstone - If You Love Me

Katy B - Broken Record

DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince - Summertime

K-Ci & JoJo - All My Life

From 1991, this was the second top 40 hit for the duo, five years after their first one, 'Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble'. There is some 90s R&B from both Brownstone and K-Ci & JoJo. Katy B's stay of execution is now over, she is definitely out this time.

Any time we get a summer heatwave it reappears on streaming charts and itunes! drama

Elsewhere Katy B has the best track!

Mabel featuring Kojo Funds - Finders Keepers

Run DMC - Walk This Way

Mark Ronson featuring Lily Allen - Oh My God

Reverend and The Makers - Heavyweight Champion Of The World

Walk This Way was a 1975 single by Aerosmith which didn't reach the UK charts. Run DMC's 1986 cover featured Steven Tyler and Joe Perry from the group. A further cover by Sugababes vs. Girls Aloud took the song to number 1 in 2007. Also from that year, Heavyweight Champion Of The World was one of just two top 40 hits for Reverend and The Makers. Lily Allen has one song of her own still left in.

Christina Aguilera - Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)

Blancmange - Don't Tell Me

Cast - Sandstorm

Sheena Easton - For Your Eyes Only

Mr. President - Coco Jamboo

Sugababes - Caught In A Moment

From 1984, this was the last of three top 10 hits for Blancmange. Sheena Easton's theme to the 1981 James Bond film is here along with the only top 40 single by the German group Mr. President. Sandstorm was the first of six consecutive top 10 hits for Cast. Sugababes lose the last of their three songs.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Catch You

Maroon 5 - One More Night

Maxine Nightingale - Right Back Where We Started From

Unkle featuring Ian Brown - Be There

This is the only top 30 single by the British alternative group, if you can call them a group, as it's really just James Lavelle and whichever musicians he is working with at any time. I haven't heard the single version for a while as it's just an instrumental on the 'Psyence Fiction' album with a different title, 'Unreal'. Ian Brown is part of this poll as well with his band, the Stone Roses. Right Back Where We Started From was one of two top 20 hits for the British singer Maxine Nightingale in the mid 70s.
