I don't think I've lost anything so far. 'Turn Me On' is quite the bop though and was close to getting points from me. Back in the days when Guetta used to make actually good songs!

  • VOTING HAS NOW CLOSED Thanks to the 40 people who voted. The results will start this evening.

  • Having a slice of toast while watching the evening news in honour. “I Hear You Now” was a gorgeous discovery at the 80s hit sessions, but I couldn’t quite fit it into my votes.

  • Nonsense. Rent is one of their classics!

The Chemical Brothers - It Began In Afrika

Cher - The Music's No Good Without You

Craig David - What's Your Flava?

Dannii Minogue - Jump To The Beat

R.E.M. - Bad Day

Shania Twain - Ka-Ching!

Toploader - Achilles Heel

This was the lead single from the Chemical Brothers' fourth album 'Come With Us'. Another song from the same album is still to come. Dannii Minogue's 1991 cover of the Stacy Lattisaw song Jump To the Beat is the odd one out here as the other six songs are all from 1999-2003. Craig David loses the second of his two songs.

'Bad Day' is the second loss from my votes (my bottom two out). I first heard it when I saw R.E.M. at Glastonbury in 2003, and couldn't believe how similar it sounded to 'It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)', but was pleased when it gave them another Top 10 hit.

Azzido Da Bass - Dooms Night (Remix)

Eminem - Fall

Pebbles - Girlfriend

The Pretenders - Talk Of The Town

We've now lost both of the Pretenders number 8s with 1980's Talk Of The Town dropping out. From 1988, Girlfriend was the only top 40 hit for Pebbles who has been married five times and is now known as Sister Perri. Dooms Night only got to number 46 on its first release but a remix by Timo Maas pushed it up to number 8. Eminem falls at this hurdle but has a second song to come.

I'm not sure who that is or what that means but he's welcome I guess.

I know Guetta's been using ghost producers for years, hadn't realised he was quite that far back though.

Another two losses from my votes on 15 with 'Talk Of The Town' and 'Dooms Night', glad they both had other voters.

Bryan Adams - Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven

Rick Astley - Take Me To Your Heart

Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney - The Girl Is Mine

Luude and Mattafix - Big City Life

Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven came out about four months after Bryan Adams' sixteen week stay at number 1 with (Everything I Do) I Do It For You. Michael Jackson makes his daily appearance this time with the first single to be taken from his huge selling album Thriller. So far he has scored 4, 8, 12 and 16 points so very neatly ordered. Take Me To Your Heart was the sixth of eight consecutive top 10 hits for Rick Astley.

Some of my ‘older’ favourites going out so far-

Talk of the Town, I Need Love, ABC and  also Hippychick, with its excellent Smiths ‘How Soon Is Now’ sample!

Genesis - Turn It On Again

David Guetta featuring Nicki Minaj - Turn Me On

Thee two similarly named tracks are both good, but didn't quite make my list.

Girlfriend by Pebbles is also a catchy tune.

Also that remix of Big City Life is a good emotive drum and bass tune, maybe I should have given it points....

Think I missed this

That’s a shame, would have been a great ‘wild card’!

And there goes my first casualty! I've always had a soft spot for a rock ballad and Bryan Adams definitely knows how to write one!

Oops. lol
