  • More fun celeb child names facts - I just realized Alanis Morissette's two sons are called Winter (my entry) and Ever (as in... The Best Song Contest in the World... Ever!)

I thought Julian would have voted for Peter Gabriel. I forgot to allow for the possibility that it was his entry

Limousine was produced by MIchael Cretu (Enigma) btw.

I do wonder if anyone might have thought Wonky Alice was my entry x (or maybe I overestimate how well people know my niches). Was very interested to see who sent that one, a nice and obscure post-punk selection there Suede.

I think it's very safe to say now that the pattern in the points for 'Onyx' was intentional, only a question now of if you chose to do that because it was the winner or just to be cruel to Chez, perhaps building up to another bridesmaid spot kink

I've been saving it up for a song contest since before Buzzjack existed!

Nine And ¾

Entry: Ted Nugent – Stranglehold

@Nine And ¾ made the choice to send Ted Nugent to this contest with one of his earlier works. It's a decent effort, but it's at the wrong end of the scoreboard.

Well, what a comeback from being on no points for a long time. Truly remarkable from Mr. Wombat... but wait... all is not over.

Would @Brer please like to step up and tell us what he thought and let Addy know his true identity...

Well I'm fairly sure at least that I'm not going to finish in 7th place like I have in 4 out of my last 10 BJ song contests!

Seriously I give up, clearly I don’t know what good music is when I regularly come near the bottom of the leaderboard and barely vote for what’s at the top

So many people sent songs that I felt were similar to mine and they have given me nothing….

I've been in those shoes more than once, it's frustrating x

Brer

Entry: Christoph De Babalon – Water

So @Brer is not behind a big sounding dance song (#shocker) but instead he is responsible for introducing 90's German artist Christoph De Babalon to our lives with this watery piece.

Just missing out on points but still making it onto my shuffle playlist for the year, commiserations go to The Beloved and Saint Etienne. Wonky Alice had my provisional 12 points after my initial listenthrough but were outpaced a bit on my second listen so I hope those 5 points wouldn't have made too much of a difference for their results - still a really interesting deep cut and curious to see who sent that one! Ultimately though it's an all electronic top 2, serving spacey vibes and hectic banger energy, and my podium is completed by a track I already knew but was happy to revisit.

Hope some of you got some enjoyment out of my entry, courtesy of a trawl for 'breakbeat' on RateYourMusic. The parent album was described by Radiohead's Thom Yorke as 'the most menacing album he owns' cheeseblock

No points given for our 2nd placed entry which means that whoever it is cannot win, as the entry was theirs and they cannot vote for their own entry...

The only question that remains now before we confirm the winner (suspense music) is what did @CowTzy decide to do with their final votes as the last person who voted...
