Official Charts Report

Taylor Swift is dancing through the lightning strikes en route to her sixth UK Number 1 single with Opalite. The second single from record-setting album The Life of a Showgirl tops the Official Chart: First Look following the release of its star-studded music video and 7” vinyl. Opalite originally peaked at Number 2 last October.

The MV – which premiered exclusively on Spotify and Apple Music on Friday (February 6th), ahead of a wider release on YouTube today (February 8th) – features Taylor’s fellow couchmates from an October episode of The Graham Norton Show, including the host himself, Domhnall Gleeson, Lewis Capaldi and Jodie Turner-Smith.

Should Opalite hold on, it will mark the first time any of Taylor Swift’s albums have produced two UK Number 1 singles. The Life of a Showgirl’s lead single The Fate of Ophelia spent seven non-consecutive weeks atop the Official Chart in 2025.

Rein Me In by Sam Fender & Olivia Dean is tracking towards a new peak of Number 4, while Zara Larsson’s viral hit Lush Life could ascend to Number 5, its highest placement since 2016.

Sombr could claim this week’s highest new entry with Homewrecker (11), which would mark the US rising star’s fifth UK Top 40 hit.

Fresh from dominating the GRAMMYs and ahead of his Superbowl half time show, Bad Bunny’s DTMF is on course to climb 29 places to Number 14; the track previously peaked at Number 26 last January.

Myles Smith & Niall Horan’s new team-up Drive Safe is eyeing a Top 20 debut (20), while J.Cole has a trio of midweek entries following the release of his new album The Fall-Off: Two Six (23); Safety (27); Poor Thang (32).

There could be further Top 40 debuts this week for Calvin Harris & Kasabian’s Release The Pressure (24), Shakira’s Zootropolis 2 track Zoo (35), and Zayn’s Die For Me, the lead single from his upcoming fifth album Konnakol (39).

Id be very surprised considering how fast the vinyls sold out when they were released in the middle of the night so cant be more than 5k, id be surprised if shes even first look number 1 since they arnt scheduled to be dispatched until Monday either

If she's at number 3 on Spotify and 7k streams behind the top song on SCR she stands a good chance! I think her songs always end up higher officially than they do on Spotify so she could be contending for the top if it doesn't fall off too hard.

Edited by gasman449

I didnt see how high a boost it had got on Spotify 😮 but we know to take 1 day boosts with a pinch of salt if she can maintain that and not just drop straight back down then maybe she could actually do it but I dont see it being more than 1 week if she does

Hmm... Sombr debuting on Spotify quite soft which isn't a surprise, the song isn't amazing. I could see him going top 10 purely for being SCR.

considering both raye and dave are on course to hit acr after this chart, she absolutely could get multiple weeks atop the chart

This is by some way his highest Spotify debut? lol

#13 Homewrecker

#66 we never dated

#68 12 to 12

#96 i wish i knew how to quit you (album track)

#187 crushing (album track)

back to friends and undressed didn't chart on debut (though the latter was released just as back to friends was taking off so no surprise)

Yeah I was going to say I think that’s a great debut for sombr! And I can see the track climbing too, it sounds like it will be massive!

This isnt as good as 12 for 12 and I don't see it having the longevity of Back to Friends or Undressed

The song is months old and not left top 20 (except at Christmas) id be very surprised if she can substantially keep up a boost for more than a week without multiple remixes etc (id live to be proven wrong though)

opalite is:

#3 Spotify (only behind Raindance which is actively falling and Man I Need which is on ACR)

#6 Itunes (only behind Bruno, Ella Langley, Myles & Niall, Raye and that 'Walk Away' song, Raye is her only threat there)

#7 Apple (probably will climb over the coming days, only behind Man I Need (ACR), Raindance (actively falling), Ophelia (actively falling), Where Is My Husband!, Ordinary (ACR), and So Easy)

i don't have amazon music but i'd be inclined to believe it's doing well there too

and with the physicals yea she's nabbed this easily

It will be nice if it can do it but im not putting all my expectations on 1 day boost,

Look at Noah last week for example his first day would of put him at an easy number 1 if the momentum stuck but was only enough for number 10 by Friday
