I've always liked Carry You Home, so it's nice to see it re-enter.

Joji matching his highest peak in the albums chart! (Oddly the album that contained his biggest hit single only got to #13 while the albums either side of it both got to #6).

'The Essential Michael Jackson' going 10-93-8 in the last three weeks, OCC rules do be OCC rules-ing.

I had been confused as to why the Djo deluxe album was charting separately but Joseph informed me off site that the physical version of the album does not include the original album's tracklist (whereas the streaming version does, so presumably this deluxe version is charting on physical sales alone like the limited release of the standalone version of the 'BRAT' remixes album).

Had no idea what that Florence album at #96 was but looked it up and it seems to be a compilation that was released in 2023, odd that it is only now charting.

21-year-old South Korean pianist Yunchan Lim today lands the historic first Number 1 on the UK’s new Official Classical Chart, Official Charts can confirm.

A new recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations ‘Live At Carnegie Hall’, released last Friday by Decca Classics-signed pianist Yunchan Lim, tops the first-ever Official Classical Chart in the UK. The new weekly chart, compiled by the Official Charts Company publishes for the first time today at OfficialCharts.com, it has been developed in close collaboration with the UK classical music industry. Supported by BBC Radio 3, the Official Classical Chart is focused squarely on discovery, featuring only the freshest classical albums released in the past 12 months that are making an impact across the UK, ranked by UK sales and streams.

Question for the chart enthusiasts, what do you think the reason is behind this abnormally fast turnover of #1s this year? Is it people finally adjusting to streaming after years of sluggish listening habits or are the chart rules the OCC had always hoped for finally working as they were designed to?

We've already had 5 new #1s singles this year, it took until June for that to happen last year and May the year before. It's very fascinating to me for such a dramatic change in one year.

Would say mainly because the OCC rules are working as intended, Man I Need would have been number one every week except for Aperture week. It's a combination of that plus lots of stuff taking off at the same time (Djo/Dave) and labels taking advantage of low sales (Raye/Taylor both needed physicals to go number one)

Yeah its definitely the chart rules actually working for once apart from TFOO first 2 weeks, Harry and wham, Olivia Dean would likely be number 1 since september with MIN , she would definitely have at least 10 weeks by now potentially challenging for one of the longest number 1s ever

Although you could also argue lack of huge releases/ anything going/being big has helped too

Long may the fast turnover continue
