It's been noted that the King of England has approved a limited series of UK coins in celebration of the Spice Girls. That's wild!! It has not been announced officially yet but you can see the official note from the monarchy's meeting:

For a British band, thats pretty huge. They will actually be on coins lol Pink Floyd is the other group being celebrated.

From this, and since two of them already have MBE's, I could see them getting some sort of group MBE or something like that for services to music.

(after this, lets definitely abolish the monarchy ok?)

Some more information on the Spice coins:

They will be featured (represented by sillouettes and signatures) on specially made coins. There will be 5 individual coins for each denomination - £200, £100, £25, £10, £5 x2 types, £2 and 50p.

These will not be in circulation (which is a shame) but you will be able to buy them of course. The whole lot might come to around £2000 alltogether. It will be limited so it will be a collectors' item. Kind of like the stamps thing, but more exclusive I guess?

GET THOSE COINS GIRLS (literally!). I bet the Royal Mint paid a hefty fee for the rights to do it

The coins thing is pretty cool, hopefully I could justify owning something from the collection.

Will you be getting anything?

(funny tidbit: in the inlay of the slipcases that come with the boxes, it states they sold 90million albums.... so I guess that's the new official number for record sales?... lol)

TBH same...

I am impressed however with the amount of 'limited' editions... each of the individual packaged coins is a limited edition of 15,000 coins 😅 That's 45,000 coins just for those editions that are all the same but with different covers on the packaging... then another 5,000 'limited edition' coins at £180...

They cant even sell that in terms of their music nowadays, it seems quite a lot and for quite a lot of money... I would be very surprised if anything sells out at all...

Misread it as Spice Girls x Mint Royale for a second there thought he was doing a remix!

Well done anyway for their commemorative coin.

They can’t even thousand sales lol. I’m expecting a 50% sales in the future.

Seems like to have gone like a bit of a damp squib lol... while many publications have writen about it, the overall reception is a bit muted...

Even Mel C or Victoria are yet to share anything about it, which I find very strange. Both of them - all of them - were so enthusiastic about the Legos and the Stamps, but now that something like this comes out, that is properly for Legends only, they are muted...

I would have expected Mel C to share on insta/tiktok and VB to at least share a story about it lol

Something is not right in Spiceworld AGAIN lol

Apparently I was wrong and it is selling quite well with most of the high price limited editions in Gold and Silver almost gone!!!spongebob

There are only 4 left of the gold coin that costs £10,000 (out of 30),

£250 print limited to 150 has 30 left,

£837.50 coin in black box limited to 250 has 15 left

£345 coin limited to 500 has 202 left

£5,320 coin limited to 96 has 17 left

£1,360 coin limited to 200 has 49 left

The collectors are collecting lol maybe this was a good thing for them to do in the end as they will get a bit of money from this.

Maybe I should invest in coins???!!!

There's design aspects that I'm not keen on. Bravado reusing the same silhouettes as used on the rugby ball doesn't exactly make the coin feel unique/special, to me. It comes across as another piece of thrown together merch without much thought put into it, very "this will do". I'm not keen on the individual photos used for the girls not being from the same photoshoot. I know a lot of people won't notice/care about details like that lol, but why have Geri/Melanie C/Emma photos from the Spiceworld album shoot but not Victoria and Mel B?

I'm in no rush to order anything. Honestly I have a feeling there will be price cuts a few months from now. For instance the cheapest Iron Maiden item is currently reduced from £18.50 to £11.10.

Yeah I am sure some items will be discounted soon enough... those 'limited editions' for £29 are not going anywhere anytime soon lol

Anyone still completely baffled by Mel C and Victoria's complete omission on this?... I find it really weird

Both were busy (Mel was DJing lol but VB was launching her new season in Paris around the same time), but not even a shared story on instagram?

It's giving Spiceworld25 no-posts from any of them type of vibes lol
