The R&B flavour of her debut was pushed to the side as she swerved into a now signature pop-rock lane instead. However, lead single 'Get The Party Started' specifically has more of a dance-pop sound to it. It was written and produced by Linda Perry, lead singer of alt rock group 4 Non Blondes, who was experimenting with Pro Tools software at the time and created her first dance song as a result. She initially offered the track to Madonna for her Music album but it was of course turned down. A week later, P!nk reached out to Perry on the phone and the rest was history, with this hit waiting in the wings.'Get The Party Started' was P!nk's fifth U.K. top 10 hit as it peaked at #2 at the start of 2002. She was blocked by George Harrison's posthumous re-release of 'My Sweet Lord'. Interestingly, fellow Pop Princesses hit 'AM To PM' by Christina Milian debuted at #3 that same week. The music videos for 'Get The Party Started' and 'AM To PM' share some parallels as they were both directed by Dave Meyers and feature Keven Federline as a dancer. P!nk's video also contains a brief cameo of the aforementioned Linda Perry as a bartender.Satisfyingly, P!nk's #9 result in this rate matches her track 9 placement on Pop Princesses.The likes of Scene, ...ready for it, Nina West and Brer are pumpin' up the volume on this P!nk smash, as they all awarded it scores of 10. However, Billy. and blacksquare are sitting out this party, as they rated it an average 5.

March 24Mar 24 Never been too mad on 'Survivor' but it's okay. Much prefer 'Bootylicious'.'Get The Party Started' is a fun early bop. P!nk's first really good single and of which I bought the cd of at the time from Woolies.

Didn't realise it was actually a cover till a while later though.'Get the Party Started' is an original song as far as I'm aware!Shirley Bassey's cover version is quite famous though. Love that she somehow turned it into a Bond-esque song
March 24Mar 24 Get This Party Started was my introduction to P!nk and also one of the first singles I purchased with my pocket money (or begged my dad to buy it for me lol). Still sounds great today! All of the singles from that era are fab!
March 24Mar 24 I do like Get The Party Started but I don't think I'd have it in my top 10 P!nk songs, she has such a strong discography. Great to see it make the top 10 here though.

She appeared on shows such as Club MTV and as a backing dancer in music videos, including for Salt-N-Pepa's 'Get Up Everybody (Get Up)'. In 1993, she made the decision to relocate to Los Angeles to pursue a career in singing instead. She finally got her big break as a vocalist 6 years later, not long after turning 30, when she was spotted on a talent series for unsigned acts called The Cut. March 25Mar 25 It's an enduring classic that is still heard today and most people know it!I'm always surprised by it being the biggest hit of the year in Aus.I remember around the time of this and 'Not That Kind', one of my teachers at school looked a bit like her... when I told her she was offended (which I thought was a bit rude!)
March 26Mar 26 I wasn't a huge fan of this at the time, but it's really grown on me pover time and I enjoy it quite a bit now.I seem to also remember there was a bit of hype around the time of release as the single cover didn't feature her face at all. It was speculated why her face wasn't show.

March 26Mar 26 Lots of 'nice but they had better' kind of songs here for me.I admired Anastacia's vocal performance on I'm Outta Love, and it certainly made an instant impression, but I really only loved the singles from her 2004 album.Ditto, Get The Party Started was a fun lead single and set up a classic era well, but I'd rather listen to the other singles from the album.
