I watched a YouTube documentary about Amy Studt once (from a channel called Pop Underrated) and apparently Sheryl Crow personally asked her to record the cover and provided backing vocals, so can see why they went ahead with it. A career killer indeed a la Stooshe with ‘Waterfalls’ later on too.

That Stooshe career nosedive still makes me sad. They had so much potential.

13 Stacie Orrico - (There's Gotta Be) More To Life

avg: 7.63

👑 Pop Royalty11 (Tafty, Jack), 10 (Paddington James, Billy., Viper*, Jessie Where)

 Pop Flop2 (lewistgreen), 4 (vibe)

Stacie Orrico may have finished in unlucky number 13th but can chase the temporary high of a 7.63 average.

Orrico is an American singer who first achieved U.K. success with her self-titled sophomore era in 2003. '(There's Gotta Be) More To Life)' was selected as the second single from the project, after previous pick 'Stuck' peaked at #9. That would remain Stacie's sole top 10 hit to date as this follow-up charted at #12. This song title is pretty self explanatory as Orrico sings about the emptiness that can come with constantly chasing impermanent highs. In the video she dons many temporary identities from a supermodel to a gang member. Sam Smith once expressed that this was their favourite ever music video. '(There's Gotta Be) More To Life' was written by a team including Kevin Kadish who also co-wrote 'All About That Bass' with Meghan Trainor.

This song was the penultimate track on Pop Princesses.

Stacie certainly goes up and comes down when examining these scores. This is the first song revealed to receive multiple 11s as both Tafty and Jack selected it as their favourite. Meanwhile, lewistgreen felt that there's gotta be more to this song, therefore scored it 2.

Love this song. Stacie had some great little pop songs. Wish this finished a little higher.

The Stacie Orrico song isn’t one I’ve heard many times over the years but it’s actually rather lovely, as is “Stuck”. The first out that I scored as high as 7.

That Stace Orrico song is pretty solid, liked it at the time but haven't listened to it in years.

What the…!!

2 of my absolute favourites back-to-back and not even top 10???

I definitely had Stacie down as a firm top 5’er though??? It’s an actual masterpiece!

Gonna predict that Pink - Get The Party Started will drop next or maybe Christina Milian - AM to PM

I didn't recall that Stacie Orrico song, I am sure I probably have heard it at least once before but wasn't sounding familiar - it was a very good (re-?)discovery from this though, the second song to drop out so far that I gave a score higher than 7 (after Holly Valance).

12 Emma Bunton - Maybe

avg: 7.77

👑 Pop Royalty11 (Lee_J11, Viper*), 10 (Mango, Chapman, HarryGarfield, Nina West)

Pop Flop2 (lewistgreen), 4 (Chez Wombat)

Maybe BuzzJack is in love with this Emma Bunton song, albeit not enough for a top 10 placing, as it received a 7.77 average.

Bunton was a few years into her post-Spice Girls solo career and adopted a viable '60s lane for her second album, Free Me. 'Maybe' was released as the second single from this project, following the title track and it charted just one place lower - at #6. This was Emma's fifth solo top 10 success to date. 'Maybe' is a bubblegum pop song but also incorporates bossa nova sounds and a retro French flair. The music video also has a throwback feel to it - drawing inspiration from the film Sweet Charity, using models with Twiggy-esque make-up and also showcasing some slick Bob Fosse style choreography. Jason Gardiner, a choreographer I know best for being the 'harsh' judge on Dancing On Ice back in the day, actually appears as one of the dancers in the music video. It was directed by Harvey & Carolyn, the team behind several Girls Aloud videos, including 'Biology' - a fellow visual with pretty left-field choreography.

'Maybe' was #21 on the Pop Princesses track list in between Amy Studt and Stacie Orrico, who have all dropped out next to each other too!

There's plenty of fish in the sea but Lee_J11 and Viper* chose Emma as their absolute favourite, giving 'Maybe' an 11. However, this track was a waste of time for lewistgreen, who awarded it the lowest score of 2.

The Stacie song is really good, as was Stuck, for a forgotten artist she certainly made an impression with a few really strong pop singles.

Maybe is also one of Emma's best, she got the sound and look spot on for that album, all of the singles stood out musically and visually.

Think 'Maybe' is one of the better solo Spice singles for me as well. Another one that I gave a 7 to but possibly the closest to an 8 out of the 7s I gave.

I was obsessed with Maybe back in the day! I agree - definitely one of the strongest solo Spice singles.

(There’s Gotta Be) More to Life was everywhere on the music channels at the time. Such a fantastic pop song. wub Actually assumed it was a top 10 hit before I discovered Wikipedia.

Loved Misfit at the time! The music video was very Mean Girls before Mean Girls was even a thing. cheeseblock

Oh well I was totally wrong ☹️

Thought that Emma Bunton song would be a strong contender for the top 5 on here. Great song though and in my opinion its the greatest Spice Girl solo track ever. Hard to believe that 70's German porn was cited as inspiration for 'Maybe'.

I love “Maybe” - might also be my favourite solo Spice track (though some of Mel C’s run it close), and she had some other good throwback style singles from that album too.

11 Christina Milian - AM To PM

avg: 7.82

👑 Pop Royalty10 (leww, DaTilt, Jack), 9 (Mango, Lee_J11, Viper*, Roba., Jessie Where, Dobbo)

Pop Flop4 (lewistgreen), 6 (Julian_, Padamic_Tension, Chez Wombat)

Enough BuzzJackers were bumpin' 'AM To PM' in their cars to ensure it achieved a 7.82 average, however it just misses out on a top 10 placing.

Christina Milian had big dreams from a young age and moved to Los Angeles when she was just 13-years-old. Milian ended up rejecting a role on The Mickey Mouse Club, famously a training ground for the likes of Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera, instead opting to star as a reporter on fellow Disney show Movie Surfers. This was a mini-series where teenagers would go behind-the-scenes of upcoming Disney movies. Milian then made her first professional music appearance on Ja Rule's song 'Between Me And You'. She also co-wrote 'Play' for Jennifer Lopez and provided vocals for it. Christina Milian was making a name for herself and got a record deal with Def Soul Records. 'AM to PM' was then chosen as the lead single from her debut self-titled album. This R&B-meets-pop song was written and produced alongside legendary Swedish duo Bloodshy and Avant. The music video was directed by Dave Meyers and also features Kevin Federline as a dancer. 'AM To PM' was a smash hit, peaking at #3 here, where it became the first of six consecutive top 10 hits for Milian. This song could be found as track #14 on Pop Princesses between Lumidee and Anastacia.

The likes of leww, DaTilt and Jack were ready to rock it day and night, gifting 'AM To PM' some 10s. However, lewistgreen was instead rocking the boat, providing its lowest score of 4.
