Friday at 09:501 day Author Gorillaz! Wonder why they've decided to playlist them again now, after all these years!!I'm shocked Elizabeth Taylor Swift wasn't added higher up the playlists...Good to see Robyn advance to the A-list but who'd have thought that Zara Larsson would have the longest runner on R1's playlist with a song in 2026?!The A-list is back down to 15 songs, I wish they'd decide on a length and stick to it!
Friday at 16:001 day Taylor only on the C list a shock, I know the impact date isn't until mid April but still 😲
Friday at 23:191 day Absolutely amazing to see Gorillaz on there! I wonder when they were last playlisted (and I wonder why with this track in particular, it’s not like it’s featuring a prominent R1 artist or charting highly)Also really great and unexpected to see Berghain on there! That will stand out in the best way amongst everything else on the playlist. Could really do without the Feng track though…
Friday at 23:241 day Yeh Taykor should be instant A Listed as that’s where she’ll end up in 3 weeks anyway. Anyway, so much to love about this weeks playlist not least the return of Gorillaz for the first time in what a decade? Wonder who in the comittee pushed for this at this late stage of the album campaign. Also love the new additions for Turnstile, Rosalia adding to the late adds and that Feng track us really stood out for me on the evening shows - a funky number of there ever was one. Also wish the song by Charlotte Day Wilson would move up the list, one of my fav tracks of the moment. Surprised that Robyn was moved to the A List ahead of Danny Harle/Dua. Not complaining though!
Friday at 23:291 day Taylor Swift choosing singles that have already charted and peaked. I wish she chose a song that hasn’t charted yet. Father Figure would’ve been the perfect choice as it didn’t chart due to being starred out and it might have helped resurrect the George Michael original
Friday at 23:311 day taylor c listed is a f***ing joke. glad sonny fodera and rosalía are finally here!

Remember the "starred out" thing only applies in the UK and Ireland, it certainly isn't a thing in the US, which is definitely Taylor's biggest focus.

Friday at 23:361 day Yeah id rather a track that hasn't charted here is pushed but as already said starred out only really counts here , and considering she literally debuted the entire top 12 in the US technically there isn't much difference to watch she actually pushes 😅
Friday at 23:381 day 'Berghain' making it after that show-stopping BRITs performance better late than never!pretty neat to see 'Orange County' being playlisted on both Radio 1 + 2 <3

Yesterday at 00:021 day Does Taylor usually get automatically added higher with singles further on in the album campaign?
Yesterday at 00:191 day 16 minutes ago, Jessie Where said:Does Taylor usually get automatically added higher with singles further on in the album campaign?yea but even then this is quite low. I can't recall the last time she was c tier? ‘Is It Over Now?’ maybe?
Yesterday at 00:261 day Suprised and yet happy for Gorillaz! Also glad to see New Harry Styles, Rosalia, Sonny Fedora, Taylor Swift and Turnstile.
Yesterday at 00:271 day 23 minutes ago, Jessie Where said:Does Taylor usually get automatically added higher with singles further on in the album campaign?Tbf , Midnights is her only album to have more than 2 singles since lover and that 3rd single was a remix of karma think that was B listed
Yesterday at 00:411 day There’s not a huge precedence apart from lead singles but she’s the highest pop star in the world and it’s inevitable it’ll end up A Listed like all her songs from this era so just makes sense I guess.
Yesterday at 00:471 day Author Actually, looking at her last few singles, 'I Can Do It With A Broken Heart' started out on the C-list, as did 'Is It Over Now', 'Cruel Summer' and 'Karma' (so 4 out of her last 7 entries) so we shouldn't be too surprised after all. They did all go on to make the A-list though, which I'm sure this one will too. Her last single to stall on the B-list was 'The Man' way back in 2020!

I really don't buy into the 'Radio 1 is ageist' theory as much as everyone else - their strong support of Robyn this era shows that they definitely can support this type of 'legacy' artist if they want to, and indeed I can't see why a song like 'Damascus' or 'Orange County' wouldn't fit the playlist like a glove.Well it took another month but would you look at that (coincidentally on the same week that another Robyn song is being A-Listed)! Very happy to see 'Orange County' finally playlisted (not sure why now of all times but I'm not going to complain), it's my favourite song from them since the Song Machine era I think. And 'Berghain' finally playlisted as well, what a pairing ofc Radio 1 have supported ROSALÍA plenty over the last few years but after they strategically bided time to playlist 'La Perla' instead when the album came out I assumed they just thought 'Berghain' was a bit too out there for the daytime playlist so hooray that they're finally giving it a chance now. I have heard Greg playing it a couple of times on the breakfast show anyway!
