Posted March 17Mar 17 So, a few reports today have claimed that ALL plans have been cancelled after the girls couldn't agree on what to do.At the same time, Melanie went on a radio show in Australia (Smallzy show, sorry can't find a link that is not Facebook) and said it 'there's no reunion' after spending months teasing one. She seemed quite deflated about it, bless her.At the same time, she went on another radio show and spoke about some of the Spice songs, and one thing came to light about her relationship with Spice Girls music overal, which made me think about the situation we/they are in.In this interview with Seany B, Mel C goes on a game where she picks Spice Girls songs against her own. She highlights the HITS of course, but then when it comes to Holler and WOMAN, it really shows how she changes her attitude. When it comes to Holler, she mentions that the song is amazing BUT she then straight up dismisses Forever as 'a side step little thing the Spice Girls did', whereas the 'proper Spice Girls' is in the pop/camp version of what we're used to.THEN she goes on and completely shits allover WOMAN, saying she hates it. I find this really dispiriting, because she talks about WOMAN as a shit song but they never finished it? IT was only a demo... why judge it like a finished song? Of course, the verses needed work, but tehy would have had to finish it later?... I find it baffling as an artist to shit on your own work, let alone work that you do that involves other members as well... really? It's the same way she has talked about unreleased songs before, seemingly only changing her mind about Spice-era unreleased songs. Beyond the appaling badmouting of her and her colleagues own' work, I think it shows that we have here a big stumbling block to any potential reunion anytime soon. Then, the other one seems to be Geri who has turned so much into a 'posh' version of herself that it would be hard to imagine her ever coming back to the group. She is often not sure about touring, it is not her element, but she does love music - and she even last year said she constantly writes music. If Mel C could relent on making new music, I could see Geri returning to make an album and then that would create more incentives for them to go on tour again rather than rehashing the same material over and over again...Poor Mel B and Emma though... they are really stuck in the middle of this...Thoughts?.... March 17Mar 17 What a mess… fans have been obsessed with WOMAN for years in one second she just completely shuts down all that excitement.Honestly, I don’t even know if these girls think about their fans anymore. A lot of us are tired of them living off the first two albums and never even trying to give us something new or put a bit of effort into doing something different. It’s always the same cycle. And the worst part is, they know how long we’ve been waiting for WOMAN. They know it would mean so much to fans, even if it was released in some unfinished or demo form… and instead she talks about it like it’s below Voodoo. That’s just baffling. With each passing day I feel more and more disillusioned with all of them. At this point I don’t expect anything anymore. We’ll just keep living off the nostalgia of the first two albums… because even Forever seems to be completely dismissed now.
March 17Mar 17 Is she just trying to throw us off the scent? Pretty sure she did same thing for Olympics. If there was no reunion it seems strange she would straight up deny it based on previous examples, you would keep up the hype, especially when she has a new album out and knows Spice Girls news would bring media attention.

I also feel like she only agreed to do 2019 tour because she realised that tapping into the nostalgia and 'camp' brand of the Spice Girls could bring in huge amounts of money while she would perform and not have to do new music. Just keep on the nostalgia trip... She's been against new music and new Spice adventures that don't rely on nostalgia since before like 1999 lol It sucks because it has prevented the group from moving forward.Geri and Victoria have been as much stumbling blocks to the group moving forward, don't get me wrong. This isn't a Mel C bashing thread. Just a moan that 1) they cant get their shit together - they don't even have a proper management team right now!2) Mel C doesn't want to make new music, just going on tour - she keeps saying this, just touring. 3) Geri doesn't want to do anything (but one feels like if she was invited to make new group music, she would!)4) Victoria has been hyping us up to sell her first her Netflix documentary and then to diviate from her own family drama's press. All of it is just awful in my opinion. Right now, if Mel C agrees to music and Geri agrees to a tour, we could easily have them back. Unless those two change their minds on it, then it's over forever, I think.
March 18Mar 18 They can never agree to anything. I wish they just end the f***ing band and end our suffer.
March 18Mar 18 Obviously we don't know all the details of why it's not happening, and we're not wearing their shoes. However, if I was in a band as huge as The Spice Girls, I'd do something every 5 years at the barest minimum. Sometimes, I feel like some of the members don't actually understand how huge and impactful they were/are. It seems like the Girlbands are struggling to get it, whilst the boy bands are tapping into their legacies. Check out Backstreet Boys, now doing something as a band almost yearly! YOLO!!
March 18Mar 18 Melanie’s recent comments pretty much confirm we are probably not going to get any unreleased tracks going further. It’s a shame they don’t feel the need to expand their discography or give the fans a few outtakes. At this point we can hope some unreleased tracks leak in the coming years.
March 19Mar 19 Here's the "there's no reunion" clip: https://www.instagram.com/reels/DV-fiPHgDwm/I suppose when it comes to significant anniversary years, they've never based a reunion around that except GEM for the 20th lol. So maybe it's not surprising that they've not managed to get their act together specifically to mark 30 years. They'll probably do it in 2029 A typical Melanie type of response when it comes to WOMAN. I wish she wouldn't be like that about unreleased material but it doesn't seem she'll ever change her tune. I've never really known any artist who is more precious about their unreleased/demo material as the Spice Girls are.

And Mel C is too stubborn to either do a 3-piece reunion, make new music with the band or allow unreleased music to be published... So we're stuck between these three women not agreeing on what to do because they have no vision on what a Spice Girls could be in 2026. Don't want to make new music or tour? FINE but for f***s sake, like any other band of their caliber, do an anthology or some proper editions of your old albums with unreleased music. It's not hard and it is what every f***ing band does. But for some reason Mel C thinks this is below the Spice Girls. It pisses me off so much man...
March 19Mar 19 They continue to crap over their legacy year after year. Definitely lost all hope that they’ll ever do anything substantial again. Let’s pretend 2019 was their farewell 🤣
March 21Mar 21 Yup, I'll forever cherish the fact I saw them one last time and have the videos to watch over and over on my iphone lol.
March 24Mar 24 I’m feeling rather meh towards them at the moment, like I just can’t really be bothered anymore! I don’t feel like discussing them, which is unusual for me Maybe just one too many let downs…
March 24Mar 24 I don’t know, but my “Spice feeling” is at an all-time low right now. I feel more disconnected from them than ever. Maybe it sounds dramatic, but after so many let downs over the years, I’m genuinely starting to question a lot of things. This week I even removed all their songs from my playlists. Not as some kind of boycott or to be petty, it’s just… I don’t feel like listening to them anymore. That spark just isn’t there right now.And honestly, it’s their 30th anniversary. Thirty years of being a loyal fan to a group that has, what, three proper albums and keeps recycling the same songs over and over… I don’t know, it just feels like it should have been more by now.My interest in them is just fading more and more, to the point where I’m starting not to care anymore about what they do next.Maybe I’m just tired. Or maybe it’s just one disappointment too many.
March 24Mar 24 Author Yeah I agree with everyone here... my interest is at an all time low...I can't quite believe there was so much anticipation - AGAIN - and for nothing to happen at all besides a coin and some Funko Pops which are just more merch. Fancy merch, sure, but still merch. I will always blame Geri and Mel C for f***ing this up, this time. The two of them, while essential to the band in their own ways, have consistently over the years either tarnished the band, flat out left it or refused to do anything with their supposed 'best mates'. Like, it's fine. It's what they want to do - Mel C only wants to do her own music and Geri only wants to write her books - but god damn I don't have to support either of those and as a fan I reserve the right to be dissapointed. I still listen to them every now and then but I havent bough any of Mel C's current album or previous album, and I wont buy another edition of Spice without proper incentives. That's it for me. Tour and make new music, or I am done. Since neither are happening anytime soon, if ever, then I guess for the time being I am out.

She’s actually more pro–Spice Girls than ever, and she seems the most eager to reunite. She’s also the one doing the most to keep their legacy alive. And why does Victoria get a free pass from you? She’s said no to everything since 2012.Also, you haven’t mentioned Mel B, whose personal issues with Geri continue to affect the group’s dynamic and plans.Regarding new music, Victoria and Geri don’t seem interested in recording new material. Melanie has said she’d be open to it if the right opportunity came along, like a Bond theme or songs for an animated film. However, as we know, they don’t currently have a record deal, since their contract with Virgin Records expired a long time ago.
March 25Mar 25 Author Mel C is pro-Touring and nostalgia only. Over the years she has been the main stumbling block to making new music. The Bond mention thing was during the lockdown, ages ago and she has since stated that she doesn't want to ruin the legacy when it comes to new music, or completely dismisses the idea. She consistently says that she just wants to tour. I don't mean she is the sole block of a new reunion, but it is very clear that she wants to tour, make her millions to fund her solo albums and that's it. The others have expressed at various stages that they would be willing to do more music. But Geri doesnt want to tour, although we could expect her to be interested in getting back to the studio with the group. So they are stuck. No new music and no new tour lol
March 26Mar 26 Although Melanie C obviously has her own mind, I found it annoying to hear recently that a certain fan apparently told her during a meet that the Spice Girls should never make new music again. Why would you say that? As some kind of pseudo spokesperson for the fan community (ugh), that’s frustrating. It might have backed up her stance that no one wants that. What’s interesting about the endless cycle of reunion rumours over the years is that the articles are mainly about tours. Maybe that perpetuates the idea to the Spice Girls that people only want a tour, nothing new. I feel like they’re one of very few nostalgia artists who don’t get hit with new music expectations. Even recently reunited bands such as S Club get asked about doing new music even though they’ve not released an album since 2002.
March 26Mar 26 The fact they have only released 3 songs and done 60 tour dates in 26 years is wild. It’s pretty shocking a music act of their caliber has done so little for their legacy.

Mel C also agreed with him, and Chris has also said before that there is plenty that she refuses to do behind the scenes. She just wants to tour, nostalgia and nothing else. They only talk of touring because it is the most financially profitable thing they can do and they get offers - even the recent The Times article stated that promoters are always trying to book them and offering in the region of £100million paycheck for them to tour.... But Geri and Victoria don't want to.Yet here we are. No touring and no new music. Just coins and pointless merch.
March 26Mar 26 For me a tour would have been nice bit they would have just toured the same set list that i have seen many times.I saw them in 98 , 2007, 2019 , i am happy with that. With Geri and Victoria not committing, it’s understandable and i am NOT bitter about it.Move on and find other artists to go see live.
