April 7Apr 7 Utterly ridiculous that he was ever booked in the first place. I can't understand how the organisers didn't see the government's decision coming.I've been to Wireless once, in 2017, and it was a good vibe and I saw some great artists that year (Travis Scott, Skepta, Sean Paul, pre-fame Dave) but I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole with Kanye there.
April 7Apr 7 It's a shame for all the other artists on the line-up that would've benefited from the huge gig (exposure and income).

April 7Apr 7 The statement from Wireless is laughable. Obviously it would’ve been incredibly difficult for them to continue with the event given the number of sponsors that had pulled out, but just throwing the dummy out and blaming the Home Office as though they’ve done something heinous

In 2015. I got to see Tinashe, Raleigh Ritchie, Childish Gambino & Kendrick! Avicii was the other headliner alongside Kendrick at the time. One of my favourite experiences was being in the middle of the crowd for Kendrick. I probably knew about 2 songs by him at that time (I was there for Tinashe & Raleigh ofc - but my friends were BIIIIG Childish & Kendrick fans) but I felt like I knew every song and hearing everyone just vibing and rapping/jumping along to his performances... so good! We had to leave after Kendrick finished to travel back home so missed Avicii (none of us were too bothered anyway).---Their statement though... YIKES. Just admit you made the mistake of trying to book one of the most problematic celebrities out there and couldn't get yourself out of the hole you made yourself???!
April 7Apr 7 Not our pathetic excuse of a PM commenting on THIS but not about the tweet D*nald recently put out talking about how a "whole civilization will die tonight" and threatening an entire genocidal/nuclear war & not suspending US bases...He's a joke.
April 7Apr 7 Author Wow, I didn't think they'd cancel the whole festival, a real shame for those acts that would've needed the profile boost but no sympathy with the organisers, when corporations are taking the moral high ground, you've definitely messed up.

Ended up granting exclusivity as he was banned from playing the London Stadium. The festival getting cancelled was likely to happen.Anyway I’m very torn on this. His visa was granted and the sponsors were well aware of who was headlining, it’s only because of the media reaction that things have gone this way. Personally what Ye said was abhorrent and for myself I have a hard time separating the artist and the controversy. I see both sides of the argument. But there needs to be some sort of understanding and healing. Perhaps if Ye is truly sorry then over this year if the right people consulted and met then there is a different outcome in the future.
April 7Apr 7 Unsurprised and great that someone being awful in the world of music is finally a reason to stop them gaining money and success at events - though I've not really considered Ye to be as irredeemable as much as a deeply unwell person, and a completely different person to the artist who made the music that made him famous, the situation is not where it should be possible for him to avoid the consequences of what he has said over the last few years.Sort of good that I am seeing, as much as it doesn't apply right now, some people suggesting that forgiveness should be an option, far too often we don't allow or consider that when the person has changed. I haven't seen enough evidence here that he has, but I will be happy if it turns out he is past the psychotic nature of his statements in the past few years.
April 7Apr 7 One must question why the F they thought booking him in the first place was a good idea? 🤦♂️
