They did playlist 'Popular' (as I remember well from a certain member being adamant they wouldn't) so that's not quite true x

Yes technically she was playlisted with 'Popular' but that was a Weeknd single which just happened to have her as one of the featured artists. It's still 18 years since they've playlisted a single with Madonna as the lead artist (The Sun were never going to bother with such technalities in their wording).

I thought R1 had hung up their boots on Madonna's music and it was always gonna be borderline whether they were gonna open their hearts to her and give her one more chance, but she's clearly back in v

Well no because then Alex Warren wouldn't be on there

Just realised it must be about 20 years now since Brittany Murphy herself was on the Radio 1 playlist as a feature on Oakenfold's 'Faster Kill Pussycat', tune ❤️

Did someone from Buzzjack update the playlist for R1 this week???

Well no because then Alex Warren wouldn't be on there lol

It’s really iconic how ‘Midnight Sun’ “flopped” when it was released last Summer but this Summer it’s legit in contention to be a hit “Song of the Summer” contender lmao.

What are we expecting Sabrina to be playlisted with? House Tour?

yup. I think its being pitched as a hot recurrent now given the shitty power intro they play with it

Love that playlist, especially 'Remedy' on the A-list, 'Break Your Heart' on the B-list and 'Fight For This Love' on the C-list wub

Is that last list supposed to be the 'In New Music We Trust' list (or whatever it was called back then?)

Oops didnt notice the error

It was called 1-Upfront List

Did Mumford and Sons move into the main playlist from here or get a rerelease in 2010 when it was A Listed?

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but does anyone have data on the oldest musician to be A-Listed/playlisted by Radio 1 on a lead single? o

I would guess Mavis Staples on Hozier’s track in 2018? She would have been around 80 at that point, I can’t think of anybody else older!

EDIT: sorry I misread the lead single part! I would think Madonna potentially? Or Paul McCartney if you count him as a lead on FourFiveSeconds

It might surprise you to learn that it spent 5 weeks on the 1-Upfront list only and that was it. It never returned as it wasn't re-released. Winter Winds, The Cave, Roll Away Your Stone and White Blank Page all progressed C-B-A though.

That's some very precise info! Do you and @Sempachorra have access to all historical playlists?

Madness, probably their signature hit and breakthrough. Maybe worried about the banjo type of folk it was but knew as you said their next singles were rinsed!

The playlist archive on here is very useful as the one for Radio 1 has been uploaded in some capacity every week since the site started

They played it because of Sabrina , it could have been any old singer (Liza minelli, Barbra Streisand etc) and they would have played it if Sabrina Carpenter was on it

I do get your point fully but... they also played I Feel So Free which doesn't feature Sabrina so how do we explain that!?
