I think they should just scrap every rule and just let the charts be natural

The point of ACR was to make the charts faster and now they seem to be taking the piss and putting every song on SCR just for the fun of it. Saying that, they should put the nail in the coffin by putting Mr Brightside on SCR. They’ll reset 3 Lions every football season like they did in 2024. What’s next? Resetting Christmas songs every Christmas? That would be another nail in the coffin

This literally isn't relevant, let it go. Also since when has the chart been a ranking of the biggest names in music? Being #1 doesn't mean you're bigger than Taylor Swift as an artist, it just means

yeah exactly ACR isn't working anymore still got Ordinary which has been on ACR for about a year and still In Top 40 might aswell just remove it and let it fall naturally and i agree with mr brightside

It would be much faster if they stopped the constant random resets. When the next GTA 6 trailer gets released, i hope they give Tom Petty the deserved reset they didn’t give him back when trailer 1 was revealed in 2023

We discuss this all the time but saying ACR isn't working at all isn't true - the charts would be even slower. It's not perfect and sure, some songs are making a mockery of it, but if you want faster charts, removing ACR is the last thing you'd want to do.

ACR % should be increased - when it was first introduced you’d have song go 19-64 once ACR kicked in, now they go 19-22-21-23-20-21…

? A song dropping to ACR from #19 would almost definitely still be out of the top 40 (see 'Human Nature' going 15-45 last week).

Tbf i think with that one its because more songs than ever are streaming similar numbers , like take the other week for example on spotify the number 1 was streaming 350k but the number 30 was streaming 205k

the only 'solution' really is to introduce Billboard style recurrency rules in addition to ACR. Mr Brightside would still be kicking around if "double ACR" was in effect

I don't think a song hovering around top 30 even on ACR (like Ordinary) is a problem to anyone by any means. It just shows that the song is truly popular. The biggest issue is the volatility of the SCR-->ACR process where basically two streams over "market level" can be decisive. Therefore, I'd suggest eternal ACR for songs that have been chart for over a year (52 wks) in any circumstances UNLESS they are gaining prominently (25% week-on-week).

Yeah that's a fair point exactly

The Rein Me In vinyl has been pushed back from this week and now has a release date of 3rd July.

Guessing they feel they have the #1 secured this week so are pushing the vinyl out to try and go for the record?

I wouldnt be too sure if I was them. Olivia R looked locked on Wednesday to get it and someone swooped in last minute

Either that or they predict more Taylor physicals this week.

Even if that was to happen ( it is highly likely not to ) Reign me in is highly unlikely to sell 30k vinyls anyway

Good. It would be funny if she denied Rein Me In an extra week at the top

I mean I'll be slightly less mad at another Taylor physical drop this week when it's not denying what would have been the best #1 of the year but it'd really be beyond a joke for her to get not one but two extra weeks at the top when the song is nowhere near the most popular of the week just because the label is allowed to strategically distribute sales which were all made before the song even came out across multiple weeks. Guess we'll see what happens though x

I really think all pre-order sales should just count to the originally stated release date regardless of when they ship. It's such a flawed system when release dates can be changed on a whim.

Taylors vinyls sold out in 2 minutes if they wernt released last week id be very suprised if there is a large quantity, the cds took almost 24 hours to sell out
