Posted Wednesday at 18:373 days Returned yesterday, 4 episodes are available now with new ones coming each Tuesday. I had read earlier in the year that once this series airs both this and I Kissed A Boy are done after 2 series (the cancellation is due to budget reasons).
Wednesday at 20:233 days Yass somewhere I can talk about this π©It's a real shame it's being cancelled but I don't really buy it's just for budget reasons, y'know how it goes with queer media π there's such a need for this sort of thing on TV as well, there's always been a massive gap for it. I don't even watch these kind of reality shows but you best believe I will be sat every Tuesday until this finishes π I really enjoyed the first one so my expectations are quite high for this.I've already watched the first 4 episodes, I kinda hate that they're all under 25 like what?? I feel like the way a lot of them are acting is a testament to how young they are as well, it's making me cringe a fair bit π«£ I'm not totally warming to any of the couples yet, even as individuals I only have three I feel like I'm rooting for and that's Tyra, RenΓ©e and Faye...Y'know the latter being short lived as well ππ she was definitely the best personality from the get go.I'm really not liking Lindsey or Elise either, Imogen is coming across pretty poorly as well but I'm hoping once she detaches herself from Ebony we'll see a better side of her. Pippa is probably going to irritate me too, I just can't take the arrogance she's already showing.
Thursday at 14:042 days Honestly, whoever runs that superTV account, you will never know how much you make me want to stick pins in my eyes.Of course after announcing the franchiseβs cancellation the BBC were more than likely just going to throw this out as quickly as possible really π€·ββοΈ itβs a massive shame, but yeah.
Thursday at 20:032 days Author Watched episode 1 tonight. First impression of Elise was great until she wasn't, which didn't take long oops; I felt really for Faye. Imogen is irritating af.
Friday at 01:392 days Absolutely love Tyra, sheβs so sweet and I love that sheβs repping the northern Scotland side after that becoming familiar territory for me over the last couple of years. I really hope her and Kayleigh will stand the test of time but Iβm not sure, if not her then I hope she gets close with someone and makes it all the way. I also love Renee, Ashlea and Elisha.Ebony and Elise however Iβm not fond of, both coming across quite arrogant and moving around the villa and assuming everyone will be into them. Itβs giving f***girl energy. Edited Friday at 01:402 days by Doug
Friday at 09:001 day On this series...I will be watching it - I've loved all series (boys and girls) so far!Thoughts on its disappointing cancellation...I didn't realise this was out already... There's been precisely zero promo, right? You can't really expect anyone to watch it if they don't know it exists. SuperTV kicking a girl when it's already down is not the one. It's strange a budget can appear for a straight dating show (I'm not sure any of those are actually on BBC though). In any case, the BBC are also there to educate and inform... If no other network is offering up a queer dating show, isn't kinda their responsibility to showcase it? It does feel as though ratings are their primary concern, despite the show being hidden on BBC3.Because they're airing Drag Race they can claim they are educating and informing around queer culture, when the reality is Drag Race is most likely a much more expensive show to produce, it just happens to be a guaranteed ratings pull, so they view it as worth the price tag. No shade to Drag Race at all, by the way - that's also a very important queer show to be aired (I'm just saying if budget is the issue, for queer TV, that one's probably the hoover...).Even if not, which I doubt, IKAG/B could very easily cut down costs by findimg somewhere cheaper to shoot it or demanding that Dannii cuts her fee, as fabulous as it is to see her on the screen, I doubt she's reeling in the masses now that the show is established - though I'd preferably have them cut EastEnders or something (which they wouldn't), as Corrie and Emmerdale basically cover that market.Such is the world we live in...I feel Channel 4 would do a decent job at it, but they'll only do it if the audience is there (which it clearly isn't). And if C4 can green light something like Tip Toe, they clearly know things like this are needed... Sadly this doesn't have the prestige of an RTD script. But hey ho, what do I know?
Friday at 11:221 day Author They could do it in the UK and not have Dannii as a host? I'd imagine a lot of their expense is on her and hosting the whole thing for several weeks in Italy. Alas, we're never privy to the finer details behind a cancellation despite being largely funded by tbe British public.
