  • What is it with referees going to VAR and giving ridiculous penalties against Senegal in the last minute of games?

  • I went to bed during the Germany - Paraguay penalties and woke up just in time for the Morocco - Netherlands shootout. 😂

  • Hoping it goes to penalties again

wait, that's an offside(?)

Edit: ok, VAR check

nope, it should be not. Korea vs Germany '18

wait, how?! So if it's head, it's offside. When it's foot it's not?

I think there’s an argument that the Veiga touch was intentional and that goal should have been onside.

I’ve been set for 10 points on the predictor at 90th minute in these two goals and have ended up with 2 points thanks to added time goals.

well, what an ending!

still, anyone remembering that upset 2018 match might feel bothered with the referee's decision.

Wow that was possibly the biggest VAR decision so far in this tournament. It didn't look like the Croatia player touched the ball tbh. I was kind of hoping that this would go to a penalty shootout but it didn't happen in the end. Spain Vs Portugal will be a lot of fun!

after rewatching the 2018 highlights, I can actually understand the last-minute offside.

Yeah that was Kroos' own mistake for letting Kim score x

That was the game in this tournament where I’ve really struggled to stay awake.

Pretty comfortable for Switzerland in the end.

Croatia were better and the result could easily have been very different if it hadn't been for all those offsides. Really unfortunate. But that's football in the end, only the result matters, and you need a fair bit of luck as well.

Had it gone to penalties, I honestly think Croatia would have won. They've been incredibly successful in penalty shootouts at the last two World Cups.

As for the disallowed goal, I personally don't see any contact with the Croatian player's head, and the last touch seemed to come from a Portugal player, so that decision is a bit questionable to me. That said, Croatia has had its share of fortune in dramatic matches before, and this time things simply didn't go their way.

Portugal just seems to be Croatia's bogey team. They simply don't suit them, and Croatia has never managed to beat them at a major tournament.

Thought some of the var calls in this tournament have been dodgy, the Iran one wasn’t clear cut either and we don’t get to see much replays.
