First half was yet again massively disappointing.

But it has been the same way vs Croatia (yes we scored, but defence was just painful) and Panama.

Second half, much better, more pressing, more control.

But from now on, the teams we are/could be facing are not going to let us keep getting away with starting so slow.

Mexico at Mexico is going to be rough!

    England are doing absolutely shite

  • Nah it wouldn't be as big as the Iceland defeat imo. DR Congo higher in the rankings than Iceland were (and have a much bigger population obviously). But it would be a shocker, seriously. And I thin

In my opinion, England’s best performance was the first match against Croatia, especially the first 15 minutes of the second half. Everything after that doesn’t really give much hope.

Absolutely agree with you, and relying on 1 man all the time is only going to get them so far

True, in my local pub they were limited to 80 people.

That’s not too bad

Yet people have Argentina as second favourites 😉

Kane and Bellingham are the genuine 'superstars' we have in this England team who can produce at a consistent level and our team should be based around. Tuchel seems to have worked this out, but the issue is some of our supporting cast just don't have the consistent levels the top players have (see Rashford, Gordon) or are just a bit rubbish (see Spence, Madueke). Even though he's not really done much wrong in an England shirt, Pickford is definitely having a poor World Cup.

The stats tell you playing Mexico at home in the altitude will be incredinly difficult. But on paper we're a much better side with better quality. I think the key will be playing the game and not the occassion. It will be tougher in the altitude, but I think a lot is being made out of it - it could be much worse and within 2 days the body should have mindly acclimiatised. Yes it will be harder and yes I have experienced altitude to 5000m above sea level and it is brutal if your body isn't prepared for it. If you buy in to it and use it as an excuse or a fear you already have defeatist behaviour. We will absolutely have to use all 5 substitues though.

It’ll be a fascinating game. As I’ve said it’s a disgrace that after the round of 16 there are no more games in Mexico and Canada. Another sop to Trump!

Give me the Azteca with its rich footballing history of Brazil vs Italy in the 1970 final or the hand of god and classic Maradona goal of 1986 rather than the concrete car parks and Kraft Beer stadiums in the US which are NFL grounds in reality.

I mean that ‘New Jereey Stadium’ has a pitch that’s been laid before the tournament and many coaches have already complained about it being patchy!

I saw that the father of Sébastian Desabre (the manager of DR Congo) passed away shortly after their loss to England.
