Some groups spend years chasing stardom, and others seem to just instantly will it into existence. The latter was certainly the case with Manchester’s Oasis, who named the first song on their first album “Rock ’n’ Roll Star” as if their fate were preordained. Arriving in the midst of the peak alt-rock era, Oasis’ 1994 debut, Definitely Maybe, was a bird-flipping retort to the navel-gazing angst of grunge, rolling the melodicism of The Beatles, the swagger of T. They must've accidentally skipped the previous 16 weeks.

So it'd definitely break a familiar record of one of big sellers not to reach number one if done so, it being beaten to the top in '95 by I Believe / Up on the Roof by Robson and Jerome.

Had to step away to pick up my car from its MOT, boo at Earrings not reaching a new peak but yay for ANOTR and Shakira at new peaks and Oasis not top 10!

If we beat Norway it'll be the perfect week for it either way as Thursday streams won't matter and people watching the Argentina will still stream it highly.

Surely we're not in for a Top 10 of non-movers? I expect Ella will climb at least.
