Ari back in London again *.* I expect tickets for this will be an absolute bloodbath much like her tour lol

^ Ariana has now dropped out of this and a statement has been issued:

A representative for Grande tells PEOPLE exclusively, "Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour."

"She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny," the rep continues. "This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much."

Hope she enjoys a well-earned break after touring. The online scrutiny surrounding her weight has never been so loud and I can't imagine having to deal with that. It's sad to be reduced to your body when you've just put out a new body of work but at the same time, I understand the concern surrounding her appearance during those black outfit scenes in the 'petal' video. Whatever is going on, I hope she'll be okay and gets any help she needs.

Edit: trigger warning - this thread contains discussion involving eating disorders, if this is too much then please keep yourself safe

I'm so pleased there's a constructive conversation being held here! Ariana's weight has concerned me for a number of years now but I've been reluctant to bring it up because I thought it would be take

This kinda has me worried that the tour has been more taxing then she thought. Hope she's doing okay.

Hoping all is okay with her, the weight discourse is annoying me on social media but I do understand why people are concerned, I hope regardless of what's happening that she's healthy and happy heart

Truly hope that she’s ok! I know she’s surrounded by people In her immediate circle on this tour. I just hope that she’s seen some of the love people have for her as well as all this debate on her appearance (which is going way too far even if some people are well intentioned).

I do hope and think that taking a break might give her some much needed time to just live! She’s been working on major projects continuously for what feels like forever. Hoping that she’s doing well though. I’m almost fearful for London shows (not for her ability but the British press are pretty ruthless aren’t they and they’re bound to be looking for a reason to pile on the moment she arrives on British soil).

I think this is for the best, it’s just awful timing with what’s supposed to be a kind of celebration for her with her album just coming out and tour wrapping up. I hope she’s okay and getting any help she needs and comes back stronger. Her appearance has been very worrying and it’s been increasingly hard to ignore.

Since this announcement I just haven’t been able to focus on anything else. It’s just made me really think about her and I do just feel concern and hope that she’s well surrounded by good people. What should’ve been a great week for her has become… this.

Ariana’s one of the true talents (she’s kinda the last female I fully stanned). I’m praying that she’s staying off the internet (not that she should have too) but the pile on is even much for me to see as a a fan never mind people who actually know her.

petal steaming and buying party to show her that we appreciate what she does for us.

I think this is for the best and I'm glad that her representative talked about it.

We're not entitled to know what's specifically going on with Ariana right now, but her weight is very concerning, so I'm glad that they are taking action and not pressuring her to keep going with more promotion than the planned tour. Health should always come first and I hope she rests as much as she needs, so she comes back better than ever.

I hope she is finally getting some help. She’s been looking emaciated for years now and it’s wild it’s taken this long for people not to pretend it isn’t happening.

Yes we shouldn’t scrutinise someone’s weight/appearance and the discourse is probably upsetting to read as a fan, but it NEEDS to be spoken about.

I get the discourse over her weight, I really do but if it's constant and potentially affecting her own mental health, that's not helping anyone. I do hope she gets the help she needs regardless. I've never been more fond of Ariana than I am this year, I swear. ♥️

Longtime Ariana fans have been kind of aware of this for sometime now! It’s really sad to have no idea what’s truly happening / what she’s going through. The pile on she’s had the last few days has been a lot and has been really eye opening (I do feel some of it is genuine concern) but now there’s people also in the actual public eye mentioning it it’s just very dark.

The amount Ariana has went through as well I don’t think there’s a pop star out there who’s dealt with the amount of bad things she’s dealt with and all in a short time frame whilst she’s pretty much continuously worked on some form of project.

I wouldn’t even be mad if she decided (or someone above her if there is anyone above her) that the London shows of the tour aren’t a good idea. I just can’t imagine what coming half way across the world when she’s feeling this way would achieve (and I mentioned earlier too the British press are relentless and notorious for hounding people especially at their most fragile).

I honestly haven’t been able to get her out of my mind ❣️

Hmmm I respectfully disagree there. As uncomfortable as this conversation must be for her, (on the most part) it’s coming from a place of concern. Not to sound hyperbolic, but if she doesn’t get the help/take the action she needs to, she won’t be with us much longer.

Also, and I mean this in the nicest way, this isn’t just about Ariana. It’s setting a dangerous example of what is considered healthy/ideal to her younger fans.

Agreed. This can’t be normalised

I understand from your point of view and that did occur to me as well because if she gets help, I'm glad, but unless I've heard wrong, on TV this morning, it was claimed that she withdrew because of what she felt like was constant bullying online or at least her publicist compared it to that. If that's what it feels like to her, genuinely then that's not fair or right.

EDIT - Sorry I've looked a bit more into it and apparently I am mistaken. She had done this mostly because of public scrutiny. Fair enough. It can't be easy for her and maybe she'll take a step back and realise she needs help. On the flip side, I still don't think it is fair or nice for her to stop what she's doing if she doesn't want to, because she's been made to feel so bad. I feel conflicted if anything. I love Ariana and want her to get better because it's obvious she needs some sort of intervention and help but at the same time, it's clear Ariana is so hurt by these comments.

That’s the PR explanation though and to shut down any further discussion. They’re highly unlikely to tell us she’s going into treatment, which I hope is the case

Its not just PR though. The public reception has been horrendous. This was her album release week, she got to enjoy like what one day of it before she was forced to retreat from it all. Its so sad.

We cannot know her physical health issues but all the public have done (the same who once called her fat and now she's too skinny so which is it then) have just piled on which if she does have an ED or some other health issue constantly bringing it up causes more harm.

Its not concern for a lot of people its just harassment.

And now they've successfully bullied her out of the public eye who are the haters gonna turn to next is what's also worrying.

Jameela Jamil has spoken very openly about it following on from her battles with anorexia. She speaks a lot of sense on the topic:

The public shouldn’t be shamed out of calling out this BS through cries of “body shaming”, “bullying” etc.

Let’s just be real for one sec. News breaks that she’s died aged 34 due to organ failure etc etc. How are her fans going to react? Cry that no one warned or helped her?

Her fans need to do right by her and contribute to this conversation. It’s ****ed up.

(Sorry if I come on strong in this topic btw - it’s a topic close to me, I don’t aim to offend Ari fans x)

I'm so pleased there's a constructive conversation being held here! Ariana's weight has concerned me for a number of years now but I've been reluctant to bring it up because I thought it would be taken the wrong way. I get that there's a culture now of it being frowned upon to talk about people's bodies and on the most part that was a direction that needed to be taken, but it's got to a point where we have to not believe our eyes and pretend everything's fine when in fact there is a legitimate concern. I've seen a lot of fans use Ariana's lyrics and messages as a defense against people bringing up these concerns, but of course she's not going to admit to things if she's in the middle of some sort of trauma. Not that we should be privy to everything about Ariana's personal life either, but to pretend there's nothing wrong is not helpful or kind at all.

I can't stand Jameela half the time but she is right on the money with her online comments and I'm glad someone of status has spoken on this topic with the reassurance it comes from a place of love.

I was wary about bringing up the topic, as it's of course a sensitive and complex one, but this official statement felt like a natural point of discussion. I trust we can keep the topic respectful as it has been so far - of course anything stepping over the line won't be tolerated.

If the discussion in this thread is too triggering for anyone then please take care of yourself. I've added a TW to the opening post in case anyone hasn't been following the online discourse.

Im glad shes finally getting the help she needs , its a sensitive subject and she has been looking worryingly thin in recent years, but as someone else said someone in her team should have stepped up long before now (such a shame it is happening on her album release week as well though when she should be celebrating😢 )

Not to take away from ariana grande but is it becoming normal in female celebrities I noticed Gracie Abrams also looks like she has lost a worrying amount of weight in the last year (sorry for the tangent)
