  • 5 to 9 is a terrible shift 💀

Biography

Armed with a mesmerizing, nimble soprano—and a vocal register often likened to those of Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera—Ariana Grande began her career as a child star on Broadway and Nickelodeon before transforming into a pop and R&B powerhouse. Born in Florida in 1993, Grande has crafted one of pop’s most distinctive personas, equal parts playful, vulnerable, and brazenly confident. And over the course of several albums and scores of hit singles—from 2013’s R&B crooner “The Way” (featuring Mac Miller) and continuing through to an EDM collab with Zedd (“Break Free”), slinky retro-soul (“Dangerous Woman”), and diva trap-pop (“7 rings”)—she’s solidified herself as one of her generation’s most dynamic superstars. An LGBTQ+ advocate and outspoken feminist, she has long used her platform to confront misogyny, sexism, homophobia, and bullying, spreading a message of love over all. Her Max Martin-produced smash “no tears left to cry,” an escapist dance-floor triumph released a year after a deadly terrorist attack at one of her concerts in 2017, and its subsequent album, Sweetener, sent a message of hope and healing. Grande’s pop vision since, though, has focused inward. After the devastating loss of ex-boyfriend Mac Miller in 2018, she re-emerged with 2019’s therapeutic thank u, next, its title track sending off ex-lovers with a gentle kiss on the cheek. The following year’s pandemic-written Positions highlighted Grande’s vocals and her desire to be content in love, while on her lush, autofictional 2024 album, eternal sunshine, she glided with a coy smile and a heavenly whistle through the emotions of a woman betrayed, perceived, and adored. Following her blockbuster return to the screen in 2024’s Wicked, which earned her an Oscar nomination, she returned with her 2026 album petal. And with each chapter, Grande proves that her greatest strength has always been her instinct for reinvention. - Apple Music

Biography

Steeped in classic country, contemporary pop, and rootsy Southern rock, Ella Langley's songs showcase her unfiltered songwriting and gritty yet honeyed voice. While scoring hits like 2022's "Damn You," the Alabama-raised singer/songwriter penned Elle King's similarly outspoken "Out Yonder." Langley's banner 2023 included the release of her EP Excuse the Mess -- which featured the singles "Country Boy's Dream Girl" and "That's Why We Fight (featuring Koe Wetzel)" -- the Tanner Usrey duet "Beautiful Lies," and her Grand Ole Opry debut, all of which led up to the 2024 release of her booze-stained debut album, the Billboard 200-charting hungover. It included her Hot 100 Top 40 debut, "You Look Like You Love Me" (featuring Riley Green). She returned in 2026 with the Billboard 200-topping Dandelion, featuring her viral hit "Choosin' Texas," a song co-written by Miranda Lambert. - Apple Music

Biography

She’s the dream girl. The free spirit. The candy-coated pinup and the well of inner strength. She’s a little Disney, a little Betty Boop. But she’s also an avatar for the modern female pop star in a post-Madonna world—the liberated woman who kicks open doors without knocking. Under all the sparkle and glitter, you could sense an artist grappling with messy human contradictions—about sexuality, about self-love, about asserting femininity in a man’s world. Talking to Apple Music in 2019, Katy Perry said she leads with her gut and lets her mind follow, and doesn’t make much sense of any of it until the work is done. “The themes are joy,” she said. “They are empowerment. They are trying to expand the boundaries of what I think, and trying to learn from all this opportunity.” She might actually be a superhero. But she also might just be what she is: a girl from Southern California who worked like crazy and didn’t flinch. Born in 1984 to Pentecostal pastors in Santa Barbara, Perry (originally Katy Hudson) grew up on gospel music, putting out her first album, 2001’s Katy Hudson, on a Christian label. At some point during adolescence, she discovered Queen, a band whose mix of flamboyance, power, and sexualized wit cracked her creative world open. (Perry named her fragrance Killer Queen, after one of the band’s signature songs.) Club tracks, ballads, classic pop-rock, and contemporary electronic music—Perry’s production collaborators are brilliant (Dr. Luke, Max Martin, benny blanco), but it's her songwriting, her image, her balance of playfulness and confidence that pull the package together. And for every “Teenage Dream” or “I Kissed a Girl,” there's a “Firework” or a “Roar,” music that turns expressions of vulnerability into anthems of inclusion and self-renewal—a dynamic that has made Perry an inspirational figure not only to young women, but for an LGBTQ community she vocally supports. Perry doesn’t quite know how she went so platinum—2010’s Teenage Dream reached commercial heights previously set only by Michael Jackson—but while the numbers are nice, the work is what's important. “It’s up to me to make the right choice in my mind to keep putting one foot in front of the other and going forward,” Perry told Apple Music. “Not going backwards—I could easily go backwards by literally looking at a photo. But I have to go forward, because I know what’s good for me now.” - Apple Music

Biography

“I think there’s a time in every artist’s life [when] they have to do something that isn’t for fans, isn’t for success, isn’t for touring,” Miley Cyrus once told Apple Music. And truthfully, she could have been speaking about any number of moments from her profoundly varied career. Born Destiny Hope Cyrus—the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus—in Tennessee in 1992, she leaped to stardom as Disney’s Hannah Montana on the strength of perky, empowering bubblegum pop. Since then, Cyrus has worked hard to shed her wholesome teen image, securing a reputation for her intense work ethic and unshakeable self-assuredness. Her 2009 summer anthem “Party in the U.S.A.” earned her credibility in the pop world, while 2013’s Bangerz—which showcased her musical maturity with “Wrecking Ball” and experimented with elements of Dirty South hip-hop—made her an icon. Cyrus continued to surprise on 2015’s Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, a psych-tinged collaboration with members of The Flaming Lips; 2017’s Younger Now, a countrified pop offering that featured godmother Dolly Parton; and 2020’s Plastic Hearts, a neon-hued explosion of disco, synth-pop and glam rock that features rockers Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks. Those frequent partnerships helped cement her as a pop pacesetter—but on the 2023 smash “Flowers”, a highlight of the breezy Endless Summer Vacation, Cyrus declared her independence and confidently reaffirmed that she’s more than capable of standing on her own. And it was that song’s success that allowed Cyrus to unlock her next move: 2025’s ambitious Something Beautiful, which found her plunging into a maximalist, ’80s-inspired world—and unveiling yet another metamorphosis. “I felt free to make the album that I’ve really been craving my whole adult career to create,” she told Apple Music, proving she still isn’t doing it for anyone but herself. - Apple Music

Glad this hasn't had any bother staying top 40 but it really deserves so much more, I'm hit and miss with Miley but this one is really good! But then, I thought the same of End of the World.

OUCHHH at Miley genuinely expected top 10/15 with this. It's far too good to be limping in at 31!

From what I'm hearing, Bass Persuades is very much going to be a cult classic in a few years..
