I don't feel that they drag down Discography very much.Agreed, they have certainly produced worse examples of hits collection new additions. It is very 1991, and fit the landscape of the music scene very well I think (whereas, for example, their 1999 singles also sounded like they came from 1991).

Tuesday at 09:361 day I also prefer Was It Worth It to DJ Culture, top 5 vs the first PSB single not to make my top 10. Playing it again here it still sounds fun and upbeat, though in terms of their Imperial Phase, Dusty & Liza and Behaviour singles it's not quite up with those.
Tuesday at 16:081 day "DJ Culture' is way better for me, although I do really like this. Shame it did so badly for them.I don't really acknowledge the existence of that Ab Fab thing.
Tuesday at 17:181 day Author #54THURSDAY YEAR: 2013PEAK POSITION: 61 And when I wakeI’ll call it fatethat it’s not over, over, over Marking their final single to chart, and hooking up with Example, this was actually a fourth release from the “Electric” album but their only to chart. The duo wanted a rap in the single and initially sampled a Nicki Minaj track to see how it would sound, they liked it enough to play to Stuart Price who was producing the album and was also working with Example, he suggested using the latter on the single and hey presto. AI: At heart, “Thursday” is about the tiny, precious window between obligation and release. Thursday isn’t the weekend; it’s the promise of the weekend. That liminal space—anticipation rather than fulfilment—is where the Pet Shop Boys thrive. The lyrics are deceptively simple, but they capture something very real: the way routine shapes emotion. Thursday becomes a metaphor for hope in the middle of monotony, a reminder that joy often arrives in small, predictable doses.(Example free version for @Jester )Highest score: 8.5 @gooddelta @Popchartfreak Lowest score: 0- @Jester
Tuesday at 17:421 day I like Thursday and the rest of that album, I gave it a score of 7. I think it's the only Pet Shop Boys song with three lead vocalists on it.
Tuesday at 17:521 day Thursday is OK but I'm not surprised to see it this low down. Was quite surprised at the time to see them collab with Example!
17 hours ago17 hr topped my charts of the time and sounding pretty good here. Later 21st century PSB always start with a disadvantage of lack of airplay at the time and unfamiliarity/absence of airplay since coming out - for me thats how I consume oldies, I rarely have time to play old albums or faves, I stick with new stuff. This is the first play in a decade for me - they havent done it in concert either during that period - and it holds up well for me. I rated based on my chart performances where I they havent been very very familiar classic oldies.
17 hours ago17 hr Author #53LEAVING YEAR: 2012PEAK POSITION: 44 Our love is dead, but the dead don't go awayThey made us what we are, they're with us everyday A song which at least returned the group to the top 50 if nothing else. Drawing from the death of his parents in 2008 and 2009, Tennant drew inspiration for the lyrics and the song was salvaged from another track they wrote “Heaven Is A Playground” which they wrote a new chorus. This is officially our favourite PSB post 2009 "hit". AI: Where many breakup songs lean into catharsis, Leaving does the opposite. It’s about the moment when the relationship is already over, the arguments have stopped, and all that’s left is the slow, painful process of detaching. They avoid grand statements and instead focus on the small, human truths of a relationship’s end.Highest score: 8- @dandy* @MangoOoOoOo Lowest score: 2.5 @chartjack2
17 hours ago17 hr I suspect there's gonna be a few low scorers where I'm the highest scorer!Just now, Gezza said:Tomorrow we lose our first 80s track! My guess is Dusty. Edited 17 hours ago17 hr by MangoOoOoOo
13 hours ago13 hr I don't mind Leaving, but really like Thursday. Was going to say I was surprised an 80s track is going already, then remembered the Dusty/Liza songs were in it.
13 hours ago13 hr I really quite like 'Leaving', a high point of a really not so great era for me.'Thursday' however is a decent track on a fantastic album.
