43 ** 161 Tame Impala - Borderline

42 25 163 Caroline Polachek - So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings

41 43 166 Sam Smith - How Do You Sleep?

As ever let's start with the indie losses as the tide continues to turn away. Lana Del Rey loses all three of her auto qualifiers, 'F**k It I Love You' catapults 35-78, 'The Greatest' bombs 30-57 and 'Doin Time' slides 28-47. Fellow alt ladies FKA Twigs (29-60) and Caroline Polachek (25-42) also lose out alongside Vampire Weekend tanking 37-68. The pop girlies aren't entirely safe either though. Taylor Swift fatigue may be somewhat kicking in as former semi-finalist 'Lover' takes a dive 14-50 with 'You Need To Calm Down' a smaller descent 32-44. Though of course she has one song left in contention. Miley's new record-breaking album (albeit the unwanted record of biggest bomb from #1 in the US for a debuting album) doesn't help her much here with 'Slide Away' doing exactly that from the AQ zone (33-48) and 'Mother's Daughter' not far behind it (up 57-51). Two of 2026's biggest pop girlies Zara Larsson and Tame Impala both see renewed interest in their 2019 efforts entering in the top 50, 'All the Time' (#49) and 'Borderline' (#43). Blackpink gain quite a few new fans with 'Kill This Love' up 40 places to #45 with last year's near-misses from Harry Styles and Sam Smith still bobbing around.

Auto-qualifiers

40 23 167 Charli XCX & Christine And The Queens - Gone

39 39 167 Jax Jones (feat. Ella Henderson) - This Is Real

38 47 174 Marshmello (feat. CHVRCHES) - Here With Me

37 ** 175 Keiino - Spirit In The Sky

36 40 180 Fisher - Losing It

35 66 180 Avicii (feat. Aloe Blacc) - SOS

34 38 181 Lauv & Troye Sivan – I’m So Tired…

33 61 184 Regard - Ride It

32 24 185 Lizzo - Juice

31 68 186 Haim - Now I'm In It

30 16 191 Sam Fender - Hypersonic Missiles

29 53 194 CamelPhat & Cristoph (feat. Jem Cooke) - Breathe

28 18 196 Dominic Fike - 3 Nights

27 22 199 Ariana Grande - 7 Rings

26 ** 203 Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello – Señorita

25 15 203 Ariana Grande - Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored

24 34 204 Ava Max - Torn

23 17 205 Tiësto, Jonas Blue & Rita Ora - Ritual

22 67 213 Meduza, Becky Hill & Goodboys - Lose Control

21 21 214 AJ Tracey - Ladbroke Grove

Two new album releases from Charli don't assist 'Gone' which narrowly escapes an AQ exit at #40. Jax Jones keeps it real at a stable #39 and we have a handful of other dance tracks joining him. Marshmello ascends 47-38 with 'Here With Me'. Avicii's posthumous 'SOS' breaks 66-35 (yay but could we not have had 'Heaven' too). Regard rides on up 61-33 with his breakthrough hit. The final of CamelPhat's trio of UK hits 'Breathe' shoots 53-29. It's a particularly good year for Meduza whose 'Lose Control' takes a huge leap 67-22 and with their breakthrough yet to appear. Also pleasing to see Fisher continue to rise with 'Losing It' though it had narrowly AQed last year. The two biggest re-appearances this year are both safe for the next contest. Firstly it's the Eurovision fan favourite of the year from Norway's Keiino at #37. The huge #1 hit duet 'Señorita' joins it at #26. Haim take the sole indie gainer slot here with 'Now I'm In It' up 68-31. Alongside the loss of 'Lover' from the semis four other entries make their departure from the top 20. Sam Fender loses support despite (or perhaps because of) his unprecedented chart domination this year with 'Hypersonic Missiles' down 16-30. Likewise the chart revival for Dominic Fike cannot assist his breakthrough '3 Nights', down 18-28. Ariana's 'Break Up' departs 15-25 to join her other #1 '7 Rings' at #27. Tiësto and friends go against the tide of dance hits gaining sliding 17-23. Finally it's another near-miss for AJ Tracey who stabilises at #21 one point away from the semis.

Semi-finalists

20 60 215 Calvin Harris & Rag’n’Bone Man - Giant

19 41 219 Meduza & Goodboys - Piece of Your Heart

18 27 233 Selena Gomez - Lose You To Love Me

17 31 237 Tones and I - Dance Monkey

16 20 238 Lewis Capaldi – Someone You Loved

15 19 262 Ghost - Mary On A Cross

14 11 264 Billie Eilish - Bury a Friend

13 13 274 Lil Nas X - Old Town Road

12 10 294 Harry Styles - Adore You

11 03 294 Billie Eilish - Everything I Wanted

10 06 307 Katy Perry - Never Really Over

09 04 315 Post Malone - Circles

08 05 321 Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho

07 26 339 Jax Jones & Martin Solveig present Europa with Madison Beer - All Day and Night

06 12 350 Sigala & Becky Hill - Wish You Well

We start with the two biggest nominations of the year and both are amongst the year's biggest dance hits. Calvin Harris' 'Giant' explodes 60-20 and a place above we have Meduza who reverse their misfortune from last year ascending 41-19 (both Meduza songs were in similar positions two years prior to where they return to now). Tones And I also makes a grand return to the semis with 'Dance Monkey' up 31-17 with one of Selena's biggest hits 'Lose You To Love Me' also joining from 27-18. Rising from the bottom end of last year's top 20 we have the massive Lewis Capaldi hit 'Someone You Loved' up 20-16 and a rare rock hit from Ghost 'Mary On A Cross' up 19-15. The dance explosion continues in the top 10 with Jax Jones' 'All Day and Night' getting a huge 26-7 boost and Sigala's 'Wish You Well' also rising 12-6 so a rather good set of results here. A bit of shakeup in the top section means we lose three songs as direct finalists. Billie Eilish departs the top 10 altogether with 'Everything I Wanted' as the favour shifts towards 'Bad Guy'. Also having to fight for a final placement are Post Malone with 'Circles' down 4-9 and Ava Max's breakthrough 'Sweet But Psycho' down 5-8. So what has replaced them?

Finalists

05 07 357 Kygo & Whitney Houston - Higher Love

04 02 371 Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer

03 09 378 Mabel - Don't Call Me Up

02 08 386 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy

01 01 502 Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now

A good handful of replacements here, and we do have one DJ-led song here in the Kygo rendition of 'Higher Love' rising 7-5. Taking six place climbs each Mabel has a revival for 'Don't Call Me Up' in third place and Billie Eilish gets the silver medal with 'Bad Guy' swapping over from 'Everything'. At least one Taylor Swift song remains popular as ever in 'Cruel Summer' taking 4th spot. There is once again zero contest for the year's winner for a second year running as Dua Lipa clears the competition by over 100 points for 'Don't Start Now', albeit slightly down on last year's 159 points margin we can never rule this out of being her second song to win the Record of the Decade title.

Wish You Well so close to going straight to the finals!
