March 13, 200719 yr Author Is anybody else getting signs saying "Hotlinking Is Uncool"?
March 13, 200719 yr Guys, it's Tuesday. There's still Weds, Thurs, Fri & Sat. Not EVERYONE buys their singles on Monday! The song is for charity so stop putting it down. I don't think the song is meant to be taken seriously, its a fun song for charity. Yes, but it is such a dreadful record by two decent Pop acts who have between them come up with more than a few classics in their time. If I could pay £3.99 to Comic Relief to never here their dire take of the Aerosmith vs Run DMC classic then I happily would. I'm no fan of Westlife, but at least they had a decent attempt at Billy Joel's Uptown Girl, and suddenly Gareth Gates & the Kumars take on Spirit In The Sky looks like a work of God-like genius compared to GAs & the Sugababes unintentional attempt at career suicide. While, comparing it to the three best ever Comic Relief singles Cliff Richard & The Young Ones - Living Doll (1986), Bananarama & Lanananeeneenoo - Help! (1989) & The Spice Girls - Who Do You Think You Are (1997) is a bit like comparing the sizes of Mount Snowdon with Mount Everest.
March 13, 200719 yr Probably best to not mention The Stonk by Hale and Pace and Boyzone's effort then!
March 13, 200719 yr Author I can think of better songs to cover though, Spirit In The Sky was not that bad actually

March 13, 200719 yr   There was about 20 signs all over the font page, they've gone now
March 13, 200719 yr I Hope Gwen takes over that comic relief $h!t. Girls Aloud are vile on that track.
March 13, 200719 yr hopefully Lucie isn't doing to badly....... and no mention of Joss :o No mention of anyone really, the Music Week report isn't out yet.
March 13, 200719 yr No mention of anyone really, the Music Week report isn't out yet. oh ok :P i thought Joss would of been one of the main ones mentioned in the top 5 but looks like shes underperforming from what we've heard so far..... -_-
March 13, 200719 yr From mtv.co.uk Girls Aloud and Sugababes look set to knock Take That off the top spot this Sunday (March 18) with their Comic Relief ditty 'Walk This Way'. But it won't be a Walk in the park for the ladies as there are currently only 700 copies separating them from Gwen Stefani (with 'The Sweet Escape') at No 2, according to midweek sales figures. In the album charts, Kaiser Chiefs will be shunted from their prime position by 'cheeky' Scouse crooner Ray Quinn. The 18-year-old's swing album 'Doing It My Way' sold over 17,000 copies in its first day of release putting him 5,000 copies ahead of his nearest rival, Take That's 'Beautiful World'. Meanwhile, his ex-factor rival Ben Mills's debut disc 'Picture Of You' looks set to land at No 4. Well, it is Mother's Day this Sunday... Looks like the truth was being stretched about the number 1 album selling over 150,000. Thank goodness the public are at last waking up to Cowell's manipulation.
March 13, 200719 yr The best review I read of Walk This Way was in The Metro paper. Simply one line: WAGS BOUTIQUE - THE MUSICAL. :smoke: Totally true - it's a decent enough song I guess but they could've done so much better and Girls Aloud just use it as another chance to let their big egos rule the show especially Sarah the vile skank. I'm surprised the Sugababes stooped this low tbh. Totally changed my opinion of it recently though I suspect it will remain #1 - probably pick up most of its sales on Friday night/Saturday via constant plugging on Comic Relief. I just hate charity singles altogether tbh  And another thing. Musicweek should be shot - they're so lame nowadays you should cancel your subscription Mikey because you pay alot and they're giving jack$h!t for it the munters.

March 13, 200719 yr Comic Relief singles stopped hitting number one when Mr Bean & Smear Campaign was out in 1992 (although there wasn't a Red Nose Day that year to support it) and then followed up by Right Said Fred's "remember us?" record 'Stick it Out' which was the first non-cover. Bad as this year's is, it's probably not the worst. Anyone remember the Pet Shop Boys ft Absolutely Fabulous? It sounded like a PSB b-side with completely random Ab Fab samples glued on. Utterly awful. The Peter Kay / Matt Lucas single is more in keeping with the spirit of Comic Relief. I haven't heard it yet...it'll be irritating as hell, but at least it'll make some people laugh.
