Even MW are c**p at mentioning stuff. Quite often they'll mention a new entry that's only top 30 but fail to mention a song which has climbed about 12-5!
June 12, 200718 yr Same, it was obvious White Stripes would be high on the first mids, however I didn't expect higher than 2. And Marillion, Maximo Park, Koopa, Erasure and Rumble Strips positions are also all believable from a first mids set. They'll all fall as the week goes on but for now they look genuine.
June 12, 200718 yr Author If anyone owns a copy of last week's NME, A White Stripes red vinyl was issued as a free gift, 'Rag and Bone' in a gatefold cover sleeve, this week there should be a 7 inch white vinyl 'Icky Thump' available to buy to complete it as 2 vinyl set, you can insert both vinyls in the gatefold sleeve, not sure if its available yet, but its clever marketing.
June 12, 200718 yr Author I don't know why everyone seems shocked that Rihanna is not #1, 4 weeks at #1 is a long time, it had to fall eventually but it was getting a bit overplayed, I just knew White Stripes would take her on quite easily
June 12, 200718 yr I think they will fall by the week's end, and by the weekend everyone will have Icky Thump whilst Rihanna will still be selling. I cant believe such a bland song could get to number 1, and I recon Umbrella will snatch it back. Just hope Kelly Rowland is top 3.
June 12, 200718 yr Its shocking because she still has such a lead on downloads she's still out-selling her nearest competitor 2-1 on iTunes, plus her physical is really strong. She sold what 48k last week, I'd expect a slight drop but White Stripes single hasn't had the exposure to push 40k surely?

June 12, 200718 yr I reckon these are true. They seem very believeable. The White Stripes have a huge physical fanbase and they're doing well on downloads, plus at the moment they're being constantly plugged on Radio1 every hour so they might even stay there. :o Unlikely, but possible.
