are all those people actally releasing singles before christmas?

glad to see Leona so high

They've covered just about everyone :o

Spice's will probably be No.2 as Take That's Patience was last year's No.2 on its 6th week in the chart and Spice Girls single might make a good stocking filler

Obviously X Factor winner will get the No.1...how predictably boring...then again Steve Brookstein had lowish sales of Against All Odds on its release in 2004 and The Idols xmas single in 2003 stalled at No.5 so miracles can happen...

And don't forget with the new download rule all the xmas classics will return, Pogues, Mariah, Slade etc...

LOL some of them are laughable. I mean Pussycat Dolls, unless they bring out a single before christmas how are they gonna be #01?!?

Good to see Rihanna & Leona high up even though I doubt it

tho i love her there is no way KT Tunstall has a sniff at number 1!
I find it quite funny that they've listed some EVERYONE but McFly

Bets off for Xmas No1 as bookies factor in TV show

ANITA SINGH

BOOKIES have decided not to take bets on this year's Christmas number one because they say it is a foregone conclusion.

X Factor TV show winners Leona Lewis and Shayne Ward have landed the number one spot for the past two years.

So William Hill is instead opening a book on who will take second place.

"The annual X Factor single has wiped out a national institution," a spokesman said. "There's little real competition for the top single on Christmas Day, so we've opened a book to open the race up again."

The early 3/1 favourites are classical boy band Blake, who got together after meeting on Facebook.

They are covering the Bing Crosby classic 'White Christmas', with proceeds going to the Royal British Legion.

Gennaro Castaldo of HMV said: "The way music is being consumed may be changing, but we Brits still love the race for the Christmas number one. It's part of our tradition now.

"It would be great to see a genuine contest again rather than the X Factor shoo-in that it has become, and what better song to reclaim the Christmas number one for the British public than the timeless 'White Christmas' - surely the ultimate Christmas single."

Blake are four classical musicians - Stephen Bowman, 25; Jules Knight, 25; Dominic Tighe, 24; and Oliver Baines, 24.

They met on Facebook this year through a shared love of classical music, and have since landed a £1m record deal with Universal.

Tighe has a personal reason for choosing the Royal British Legion.

"My father fought in the Falklands and the first Gulf War, so to do something that benefits the British Legion will be a real honour for me," he said. "And as it's the 25th anniversary of the Falklands, it's all the more meaningful."

'White Christmas' was first released in 1942 and has since sold an estimated 30 million copies worldwide.

It has been recorded by everyone from Pat Boone to Keith Harris and Orville.

westlife don't stand a chance for xmas number one......
it really is time for a non-reality show winner christmas number 1.

the ones that stand a chance in my opinion i think are this lot.

Well, it would've done, being up against Do They Know It's Christmas?

Steve Brookstein's Against All Odds wasn't released in time for the Christmas chart. It was pushed back a week becasue Simon didn't want to take the shine off of Band Aid 20
How could someone says things like these before knowing the songs these artists will be release?

It was...it entered at No.2 on xmas week and then climbed to No.1 the week after...seriously though if Shayne sold 750k and Leona sold 500k on their first week Band Aid could have easily been beaten if they had a good winner that year

Band Aid 20 never sold more than 250k in a week did it?

I think Steve Brookstein only got to #1 because his artists royalties also went onto the band aid charity. So that would have been 12p then!

No, it was released on Monday December 20th and charted on Sunday December 26th

The Christmas Chart (with Ronan Keating & Yusuf Islam at #2, Band Aid 20 at #1) was revealed on December 19th

Well Steve Brookstein was a monstrotity.

At least Shayne and Leona HAVE talent and a wider appeal.

That first season was pretty c**p a trend I see repeating this year tbh - none of the acts strike me as brilliant.
