Posted December 18, 200718 yr The Official Charts Company says that X Factor winner Leon Jackson is on course for the Christmas number one with his single When You Believe, despite the track not appearing industry midweek sale charts due to “data reporting issues”. The midweek charts, published today, indicate that Katie Melua and Eva Cassidy’s cover of What A Wonderful World is on course to spend a second week at number one. However, the OCC says that in terms of sales figures Jackson is“comfortably ahead” of Melua and Cassidy and that the reporting issue will be resolved tomorrow. December 18, 200718 yr Well, here's hoping it is a Scotsman on top this Sunday - Malcolm Middleton that is. Nah, seriously - I can see Malcolm being top 20 with all the Radio 1 support but he'll still sell way less than the likes of Mariah, Pogues and, unfortunately, the Leon / Leona aXXXis of evil. I'd like to see Ernie K Doe enter the 40 too after milling around the mid-40s on downloads for the past two weeks. I'll repeat what I said yesterday though - if you're planning to buy Leon's single tomorrow, ask yourself first if there's another you'd rather have. One that you might still listen to past January. Remember, Leon's gonna go off for a good ten months and record a professional album - if you MUST like him then wait for that and leave the sub-Disney cash-in on the shelves.
December 18, 200718 yr It'd be great if Malcolm Middleton was number 1 but unfortunately there are too many stupid buying singles around this time of year. Malcolm Middleton is only out on 7" (picked up my copy yesterday).... so not enough formats to help him in getting the number 1... I reckon he will just scrape the top 30
December 18, 200718 yr Yep, doesn't help that all his fans bought the album back in February too. Although I might pick up a 7 this week to help the cause.
December 18, 200718 yr Author Jackson set for number one despite mix up 09:33 | Tuesday December 18, 2007 Source MW By Ben Cardew The Official Charts Company says that X Factor winner Leon Jackson is on course for the Christmas number one with his single When You Believe, despite the track not appearing industry midweek sale charts due to “data reporting issues”. December 18, 200718 yr But why? why am i not allowed to supprt anyone, each to their own no matter what anyone thinks. I acutally think he has a really good voice, but this song doesnt do him justice at all. Edited December 18, 200718 yr by danalco
December 18, 200718 yr why am i not allowed to supprt anyone, each to their own no matter what anyone thinks. I acutally think he has a really good voice, but this song doesnt do him justice at all. Fair enough. I was just wondering why anyone would be so keen to cheer on such an obvious and manufactured No.1.
December 18, 200718 yr why am i not allowed to supprt anyone, each to their own no matter what anyone thinks. I acutally think he has a really good voice, but this song doesnt do him justice at all. I'll refer you to my earlier post. Yes, you like his voice but you don't like the song. Therefore ignore it until his proper stuff comes out late next year.
December 18, 200718 yr i really think simon cowell should scrap plans for 2008's series and give the reality format a break for one god damn year. i know for a fact that leon won't have the success of leona, and tbh, i wish theyd realise there wont be an act as big as her, saleswise, after their xmas single so why bother. i would rant some more but my fridge freezer has broke so i gotta go and sort it out  i see xmas top 5 looking this way: 5 - The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl or Soulja Boy 4 - Leona Lewis 3 - Mariah Carey 2 - Katie Melua/Eva Cassidy (this year Kelly and Ozzy Osbourne methinks!!) 1 - Leon Jackson :puke: :puke:
December 18, 200718 yr Author Chart Info is in, give me time to flesh it out. Leon is not on downloads at all, due to the error.
December 18, 200718 yr I didn't know what to think of that Malcolm Middleton. Ive never heard it! I predicted 67 in TIP's prediction game, i guess it'll do better Urgh Westlife have sold nearly 50k and just 10k off Leona. They're doing very well. I don't like them personally but good for them Edited December 18, 200718 yr by Harve
December 18, 200718 yr Think what you like about Westlife, but they certainly shift albums this time of year.
December 18, 200718 yr Interesting also to note that Melua and Cassidy were not even listed odds in the betting for the "Christmas No.2". Wonder if any far sighted punters managed to get a bet on it?
December 18, 200718 yr Filo & Peri, Scouting For Girls, Kate Nash and Sugababes all doing very mediocre. Booty Luv doing ok Kylie- WOW is doing.... welll..... WOW! Edited December 18, 200718 yr by Harve
December 18, 200718 yr Top 10 Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse - Valerie Top 15 (13) Sugababes - Change Top 40 Mariah & Whitney - When You Believe Kate Nash Albums 01 Leona Lewis 59.7k Top 10 Amy Winehouse Amy Winehouse DEdition All of this info pleases me. :D I'm guessing Valerie is #10 and will slip when Leon is added tomorrow? I'm hoping the Sugababes and Kate Nash will climb a little bit too. Everyone should buy the original When You Believe instead of Leons version. Amy Winehouse with both albums in the top 10 is giving me hope, I don't want Leona to beat Amy in sales this year, so hopefully this will help. But I still think Leona will beat her to it.
