January 1, 200817 yr I'm not shutting it as we are all entitled to our own opinions... I personally like Cascada and find them to be light relief...I don't always want to listen to serious and overproduced music, particularly not when I'm out having a good time. Cascada's songs are catchy and easy to sing along to. They are not pretending to be the best act in the world I'd sooner listen to Cascada than Justice whose dance album has topped or come near the top of loads of year end polls recently. It was so hard to get into and many people give up on an album after the 4th or 5th time of still not getting into it

January 1, 200817 yr light relief?? not serious music?? catchy and easy to sing along to??? not pretending to be the best act in the world?? so pop music then  good old fashioned europop :D there are no similar acts out at the moment so perhaps that's why people like them so much...they have no competition in their genre
January 1, 200817 yr europo from the 90's was soo much better. And I think Cascada are not really seen as a credible and repesfull act at all. But maybe thats not what they're aiming for to be respecteted and be taken seriously.
January 1, 200817 yr they don't want respect, they want money and fame and good for them riding on the wave of their success while it lasts...everyone knows that these types of bands have a short shelf life if they wanted respect they wouldn't have rushed out an album of half covers...
January 1, 200817 yr Oh well good for them enjoying their 15 minutes of fame while it last i wish them the best of luck though.
January 1, 200817 yr I'll be shocked if they are still successful this time in a year but I genuinely hope that they are...they are a marmite band :)
January 1, 200817 yr yeah i guees we;ll see......ok i admit i kinda like "Everytime We Touch" but thats it.
January 3, 200817 yr heres my 10 worst thing about mnusic of 2007: 1.Arctic Monkeys 2.Leona lewis mediocre album 3.Avril lavigne and her hypocritical fakeness 4. Radio 1 ( especially chris moyles) 5. cascada eww eww and more eww How are Arctic Monkeys the WORST thing about about music this year especially considering their new album was critically acclaimed? Agree with the other 4 though.
January 3, 200817 yr 01 Commercial Indie-Pop Mainly Orson, The Hoosiers, Maroon 5 and Scouting For Girls. All absolutely dreadful bands yet for some unknown reason people seem to like this repetitive, rip-off nonsence. There's nothing wrong with indie bands making pop songs. The Shins and Rilo Kiley have done it brilliantly this year but these are just appaling. Completely unoriginal and not one redeaming feature. Anyone could have wrtitten 'She's So Lovely'. Couldn't agree more with this one. And now we have all these f***in' kids who wear hoodies and skinny jeans saying 'oh i'm really into indie'. WTF? Do they even know what indie means? It's bands like those you mention that cause this kind of thing. Very sad.
January 8, 200817 yr they don't want respect, they want money and fame and good for them riding on the wave of their success while it lasts...everyone knows that these types of bands have a short shelf life if they wanted respect they wouldn't have rushed out an album of half covers... however think that Nicki French should be credited first doing the power ballad into [Hi-NRGdisco] dance thing first - it was all her fault  europo from the 90's was soo much better. And I think Cascada are not really seen as a credible and repesfull act at all. i dont know was listening to Scooter's Back In The U.K. for comedy value last night - even when played back to back with the shamen's ebeneezer good - still wins the comedy test  - funnier than Russell Brand... ...sing Def Leppard tunes... ...in the nude.. ..in Germany oh i'm really into indie'. WTF? Do they even know what indie means? It's bands like those you mention that cause this kind of thing. Very sad. well even tho they are so totally annoying at least give the hoosiers some credit for saying thy do 'odd-pop' its only marketing bollocks that credit them as indie to give them more credibilty away from manufactured pop (see review in this weeks heat mag termed as 'odd-pop' indie - and Orson too!?!?! wtf?
January 10, 200817 yr Referring back to The Pogues 'f*****' reference - 'f*****' is a very old Irish term for a lazy, good-for-nothing bloke - which would probably fit much better into the song that it actually referring to the foul foodstuff or a gay person. Cascada - I agree with the haters - they're a truly APPALLING band - chipmunks-on-helium. Cheesier than a mountain of Cheddar - and they, along with the numerous God-awful Misery Of Sound pop compilations, have helped discredit the genre of dance - it's an insult to even consider Cascada as a 'dance' act, anyway - name me a club worth its salt that would ever play a Cascada track? Name me a dance DJ who would pollute his record box with one of their tracks..... Also agree that it's high-time Westlife realised nobody with any sense under 45 buys their records..... it's housewife-on-Valium muzak... deeply depressing - but... it keeps Louise Walsh in a job. Other lowlights.... a very bland, underwhelming and over-produced album from Leona Lewis. Great single - but the album's really not a good 'un. Sugababes - from releasing some of the most interesting, edgy and different pop songs to releasing run-of-the-mill could-be-by-anyone pop like About You Now and Change. A real shame..... Jo Wiley - John Peel must be looking down from heaven and shaking his head in despair at how she's sold her soul to Radio One.... and the revolting Chris Moyles. Rotten to the core.

January 10, 200817 yr I agree with most of whats been said, especially the GA vs SB duet, by far one of the biggest dissapointments ever, and im huge fan of both groups. They could have had one of the biggest hits of the year but instead had one of the most hated songs of the year. It was all so half-assed like they really didnt care about it. I also agree with the X-factor comments, It seems like its getting old fast now, has Leon even sold anywhere near as mich as Leona or Shayne? Then with radio 1, they p*** me off too, they keep playlisting acts who perform very poorly on the charts and even after they flop they still keep playlisting them, yet with artists like girls aloud who've had 17 top 10 singles, only 3 were ever a-listed. Soulja Boy...can't even find the words to describe how horrible and irritating this song is, and that stupid dance that everyone does when it comes on in the club :puke2: The only thing i disagree with is the Spice Girls, i really think a large reason they 'came back' is so they could give some closure to the fans and stop the "spice girls to reform" rumors, this way they can say ok we reformed now we're done the end. Im sure the money was a large reason too, but if nothing more to just give one final tour and release a GH and then say ok now we're officially over.
January 10, 200817 yr I have to agree with list. Yes Cascada is something of an 8th wonder of the world as to why such unbelievable turd is having such amazing success! I think it's terrible to tag them as a euro-pop equalivalent of this decade. While acts from the euro-pop acts like Maxx, Culture Beat etc were heavily cheasey even at the time, they had a certain charm about them. To me, Cascada are just absolutely disgusting on so many levels and I fail to understand how people who have a genuine passion for music can get any form of pleasure out of such brain rotting rubbish. Moving on!... The PC brigade really needed a slap over the f***** business. Saying that though, I know a fair number of gay men that have that anal-retentiveness in them to file a formal complaint against Radio 1! I'm pretty bloody certain Kirsty MaCall wasn't referring her disfunctional partner as a homosexual. Any gay man that was genuinely offended by this has no other option than to GET A LIFE! July 20, 200916 yr Sorry to bump this thread up but oh my. I can't even understand what i was on about  I don't even make sense . Still though i think most haters just think of the dance and singing over the top combination because Natalie can actually sing in slow ballad songs. Edited July 20, 200916 yr by Roboticallastico
July 20, 200916 yr Yeah, screw the Cascada stuff. Natalie FTW. Anyway, I better leave this thread. Looks like it can p*** me off.
July 23, 200916 yr Couldn't agree more about Soulja Boy; he's single handedly destroying the pop music scene. Also, the auto-tune got snubbed. Now singers don't even have to have a sense of pitch!
