They used to miss out a lot of new entries that weren't on the playlist when they first started.

I remember them skipping over Ian McNabb's new entry, and after sneering one of them

said "Actually that doesn't sound too bad".

I totally agree with what RFC has said. If I were as incompetent at my job as they are at theirs, I would be sacked <_>
I like them but the factual inaccuracies are a tad annoying I agree -_-
I hate it when they get the info wrong, that's the most annoying thing about them. Its their job, they're supposed to do it well. Fearne was also c**p with the Elvis stuff, and I hate how she says a song is "in" at a certain position when its not a new entry. Not to mention Reggie saying a song has spent so many whole weeks, and he usually gets it wrong.
They are only doing their job, surely they can't remember and know all about #01s etc :(

Surely theres more important things to get annoyed over than a chart show. They're job is to announce the chart.

If only they'd stick to *that*, rather than adding all the BS & waffle between songs...! :(

I think most people on this forum could do a better job than them TBH. They miss songs out just so they can fill it up with pointless banter and things like Chartbreakers which I couldn't give two $h!ts about. Another annoying thing is how they act like they don't have a clue who has charted where, it's so god damn annoying!

Mark Goodier was great, he was doing it when I started listening. He played the whole top 40, didn't go on with stupid stuff like Chartbreakers and was informative and mostly got his facts right. Now it seems to be becoming more and more like a talk show than a chart show.

Absolutely agree. I have worked for a few radio stations, and the producer can sometimes "hold" the cards up for the presentation of the show. On a chart show, all the positions, "this" and "last" week are in front of them, together with number of weeks in the chart.. There is no reason, for a presenter to slip up, on that info. Going right back the likes of TOM BROWNE, TONY BLACKBURN, SIMON BATES etc, did not make that many mistakes! It has to be said that only MARK GOODIER ever played the top 40, in its entirety.

Unfortunately Radio one, don`t want to do a slick, less chat, more chart type programme, anymore...they think it is old hat. Totatally rubbish!!! Bring back the "slick" countdowns of yesterday, at once! The radio one chart, would have a good host with someone like Sean Tilley, or Neil Winfield.

Too Radio one...it is not a contest to play the number one before the other side!!!!!

the funniest JK & Joel mistake was when they said Gwen Stefani climbed 27 places to 8 with the sweet escape. it had been number 10 the week before  I know researchers do it for them but you'd think they'd at least remember what had been in the top 10 the week before.

That was hilarous.

And just think - despite that screw-up, it's still not the biggest f***-up that BBC have done in the name of research for a music show. Remember the first of the "all new" Top Of The Pops? They had a competition to see Robbie Williams in Australia. All you had to do was phone in and say which of the three choices was Robbie Williams' first No1 - Millennium wasn't one of the choices. They then had to change the question so that they could give the prize away.

And something that annoys me: Reggie saying, "that's your NoX." Unless you know what everybody likes, that's not a factual statement, that's just stating where it is in the chart.

(PS - When was Rihanna No1 for 11 weeks? And how can Kate Nash make No1 and No3 with the same song?)

Bruno Brookes also played the whole chart on his 2nd run (92-95).

That was hilarous.

The most hilarious mistake ever on TOTP was Dexy's Midnight Runners singing Jackie Wilson Said, on the background they had a picture of the darts player Jocky Wilson, did I laugh so much.

And there was that classic All About Eve performance of Martha's Harbour (1988) when

the singer couldn't hear the backing music and was left sitting there without saying

anything for the start of the song.

He indeed did. But I was elsewhere then

Something else that annoys me is when Reggie always says "I can't believe this is still here" or "believe it or not" and he says it every week about the same songs

There's also a lot of "I'm not sure but..." which is quite worrying. I'd like a presenter who was 'sure'

And of course the "hanging around like a bad smell" is quite tedious

When will Radio 1 see sense?

I can't remember the name of the band, but I know the whole studio was filled with a lot of smoke, and you couldn't see the band  does anyone remember the band that was performiing.

Nah I just find it stupid on their part. I mean surely they'd have silly information on paper next to them about how long a song spent at #1 or where it peaked?

I mean I know how long Rihanna was at #1 and where Kate Nash peaked and a good chart presenter should actually know what the hell they're going on about. I've listened once since they took over to the Year End chart and the amount of times I cringed because Fearne got facts wrong or mispronounced names.

Both Kevin Rowland (DMR's lead singer) & the then head of the TOTP studio claimed that they did the joke on purpose. Yeah right, sure.

Anyway here is the famous TOTP appearance:

Found it!

All About Eve - Martha's Harbour (TOTP 1988)

I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it here. The star of the chart show should be the chart, not the presenters. Yesterday's show with Reggie on his own was far less awful than normal. It just reinforced my view that there should be only one presenter for the chart show. If Radio 1 want to fill the remaining 165 hours per week with presenters whittering on, so be it but let's at least have a chart show that's about the chart rather than a load of inane chatter.

Agreed. One presenter, no inane chatter and waffle and all 40 songs played. There's enough time for all of them and a quick top 10 album countdown too. Top 5 isn't enough. Get Scott Mills to do it. End of.
