While I agree with some points you made and indeed agree Mel should be respected for her continuous dedication and passion to her craft there a few things here that need pointing out...

 

- Emma released a solo album in 2019 to fairly average reviews, certainly no slating her, so I don't think she would fit into that bracket...

 

- As with Emma, Geri has had a far more successful career in music than Mel B, so I don't think Mel B would be 'credible' while she wouldn't be.

 

- As much as I would love to think Melanie has never compromised to play the game, I'm afraid that's simply not true. Releasing FDOML was clearly a compromise for her (that paid off very well) seen in the fact she never sings it at any of her UK performances ever, but it was an opportunity and a pay out which then paid off massively for Beautiful Intentions sending it 6x platinum in Portugal and Gold in Germany and Switzerland. She also compromised to release I want candy which, as a huge Melanie C fan, was terrible... but again she will have got a nice payout for it. She compromised by going back to the Spice Girls for the 2007 reunion which she clearly did not want to do. She compromised releasing On the horizon as a single which she didn't want... the list goes on.

 

- Plenty of the younger generation have stated they like the other girls, Emma Stone and Blake Lively both stated Emma was their favourite and the biggest pop star on the planet is a die hard Ginger fan (Adele).

 

- Bryan Adams also worked with Emma as did Will Young, Robbie Williams, Tin, Tin Out... and then Missy Elliot asking Mel B to work with her was and still is a pretty big deal.

I wasn’t talking about success. Mel B voice is way more interesting than Emma’s, especially in the US. Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves and Viva Forever outro prove how good are the Mels together. The Holler performance at the 2019 tour was another stand out.

 

As for the people showing appreciation, I was talking about musicians not actors 😉

 

I agree with the compromise thing though, even if that wasn’t really compromise to set the charts on fire. She didn’t get naked, she didn’t write raunchy lyrics, she didn’t do any thing of the things that the industry wants women to do. That’s girl power!

People want the classic, not new music (especially if Victoria is not part of it). That’s why they’re going to release many demos and hidden gems (no pun intended). It’s not risky, there’s no chart system involved.

 

Take my money, girls. And tour again whenever it’s possible and when you’re ready to entertain us the way you used to.

 

As for Melanie C, as the tour was postponed I’m sure she’s gonna perform both “Melanie C” and the new album. Queen of “doing something practical, like staying quiet in interviews and singing the hard bits”.

They literally didnt release music and toured in 2016/2017 because Mel didnt want to. Same throughout the years, as far as we know.

To be fair this is true... maybe instead of blaming Mel for them not releasing music blame the other 3 for not daring to do it without her.

Can you imagine Geri? At GAY she showed that she doesn’t have any stage presence, same at the 2019 tour (and everyone who was there knows the show wasn’t fully live).

 

I understand Melanie C. And I hope the album is better than the last one, which I enjoyed (Who I Am and Blame It On Me are amazing). She needs to put out more things like that! ☺️

To answer your criticism (an answer if I thought it was pretty obvious but here we are...):

 

Emma is my favourite Spice. Mel B is my second favourite. Both are my favourite solo Spices. I do not care for the other Spices solo releases apart from the occasional good song.

 

When Emma released My Happy Place near the tour in 2019, I complained that she wasnt focused on the reunion.

When Emma released her book this year, I criticised it and said I would rather she would do music with the girls instead of that crap.

When Emma released My Happy Place, I criticised the focus on covers.

 

When the international tour was cancelled in 2019 due to Geri, I was fuming with Geri and how it all went.

 

When GEM were a thing and didnt release anything (because of general lack of interest/awful announcements and leaked music), I criticised them for how they handled the whole affair. But at least they tried and even recorded some tracks, which is more than you can say about Mel C at the time.

 

So please, just because you are sad that someone isnt interested in new Melanie C music that doesnt mean I am being disrespectful or being rude, or attacking Mel.
