This would be a fantastic release.

 

I think she could get another top 10 with a well packaged greatest hits.

 

Definitely think she could, potentially top 5 if promoted right and released in the right week.

To be fair the likes of Bonnie Tyler, Dolly Parton, Bette Midler, Dead or Alive etc are always putting out "greatest hits" and they only have 2 or 3 proper big hits to their names too. Melanie has 3 bit hits to her name in the UK, then a further massive one in Europe plus Northern star is a silver selling hit. She has more than enough to justify calling it a Greatest Hits.

 

Top 40 is technically called a hit and she has 12 of those:

If Melanie releases a greatest hits she has to include a disc of b-sides/rarities to entice did hard fans to buy it.

 

Yes I imagine it would help her other less known songs slightly as some people would just play the greatest hits in full while they wouldn’t search for the individual songs or play the albums they belong to. I truly think a Greatest Hits would be Mel’s biggest selling album since at least Beautiful Intentions and if promoted right since Reason.
I'd end up buying all three editions if she had different new tracks on each edition!! lol
