I would think the stumbling block of C U Next Tuesday is more the brand Spice Girls than any one member. It could be an amazing song but I just don't see a song with that name sitting in their catalog.

Yeah, I think a huge part of it is that they want to be seen as a "kid-friendly" group so that moms that grew up with them can feel comfortable with bringing their kids to their shows and exposing their catalog to them. While we all obviously know that they have songs that are thematically raunchy I'd assume C U Next Tuesday might cross the line to being too rude for the group and who they want to target these days (unfortunately).

There's an easy way of circumventing that! They can simply release a Rareties and Unreleased Tracks editions that will be website only and thus the yummy mummies dont have to trouble themselves with having to explain to their kids that yes, people have sex and it is a natural thing to want to get bonned

It's a silly argument and sad that we are still here nowadays. The Spice Girls themselves were so much about positive attitudes to sex and often referenced it in their most popular music. Specially nowadays when you have people like Ariana Grande, whom kids listen to, singing about being dicked so hard she can hardly walk, I dont think this is anything other than some executives (and probably Geri lets be honest....) being prudes...

Urgh..

To be fair to Geri, she's not the one who's cashed in on the whole "I-used-to-be-a-Baby-but-now-I-am-a-Baby-Momma" thing. I'm pretty sure there's more than one member that might object to it being released.

Oh you are right to be honest! I bet Emma wouldnt outright stand in the way but she would probably support others. I bet Vicky also had a say on that too.

I can see Victoria listening to C*NT - as she forgot it existed - having a seizure and Geri proposing to rewrite the lyrics to be more housewife friendly.

Gurl, after all these years with David effing Beckham, you don’t have to pretend to be vanilla - same goes for Kinky Spice Bunton, we stan a naughty queen and we know she secretly is.

For me it would be too far off brand, like ABBA releasing a song called C.U.Next.Tuesday.

WASH YOUR MOUTH you prude!! :teresa:

Melanie has described it as a Lily-Allen type of song, and that makes total sense in terms of pop-girl power actually. I'd love to hear it.

Spice and Forever are full of horny bops, from Wannabe, to 2 Become 1, to Last Time Lover, to Holler, to Get Down With Me, If You Wanna Have Some Fun.

I don't really get this prudeness from the Spice Girls fandom, urgh...

Also, Spice Girls have very little to do with ABBA music, other than being iconic pop bands.

Yeah I agree!

Strange - and slightly depressing - on how they became pruder with age... their marketing 'brand' really shapped them personally as well as a group, urgh..

I see your point. But ABBA never had songs like IYCD where Geri talks about male genitalia or 2B1 about safe sex, or Holler.. and many others lines especially in Spice. I think as Mr.X said, they should release the unreleased stuff as an extra disc. No promotion.. a fan release only.

There is no such thing as a fan only release, whatever gets put out on whatever medium ends up on YouTube and the like in minutes. Doing that way would only make it more likely the daily mail would pick up on Posh and Co releasing a song that Harper shouldn't listen too. You know the insider source where they say a close friend knows David is unhappy that Victoria has muddied the image Harper has of her mum.

Victoria should say: Harper will grow up as a free woman - and when it’s time, she can listen to the song herself. The spirit of Girl Power. Or was it just a gimmick?

I understand what you say, of course. But I think they seem to be all prudes bar Mel B.

Mel C is probably thankful fans are more interested in C U Next Tuesday right now rather than Woman.

If we dont get either in the next few years, she's gonna regret that :teresa:

I personally don’t like Woman, but I think it’s time to give us the unreleased album. We already have a title:

(B-side are) B-sides for a Reason.

They could just change the title to remove the acronym & beep out a word or two they feel is too rude!

The prudishness seems a bit odd. It’s not like “feed your love to me” is about eating the breakfast that her partner has lovingly made for her!!

The actual title of C U Next Tuesday is Likely Stories. I bet the song is much more tame than we're thinking. Remember how we all thought Feed Your Love was going to be very filthy? It was much more tame then we expected.

I agree that it probably is very tame by today's standards but I'm sure some people in their camp are just overreacting to them singing something like "See You Next Tuesday!".

This.

Melanie is back in the studio and she’s working with two producers of Diplo’s team. Can’t wait for new music!

Yes! And you can hear a snippet of the new song. Sounds good!!
