THIS IS THE LIFE ~ AMY MACDONALD #1 but yours for about £5

if the album was compiled like the movie box office chart from getting the total price from all the sales -rather than from one sale regardless of the price - would it be still #1??

This is a very good point indeed.

It would be interesting if we all posted selling prices each week and then worked out the average per CD and then worked out who took the most money when the sales figures come in. It's quite relevant as someone like Amy MacDonald wouldn't have the 1 position without the price.

I'd do it myself but don't have the time. I hope someone takes it on though.

to be fair her album has done ok since its release and had a number 2 debut,i know the price helped but it has been selling steadily since its release and never left the chart plus her single has been hanging around a few weeks now also
It's £5? :o I'll have to go out and get it then!

Radio 1 played the new single run yesterday

I just fell in love with it

Will definetly be purchasing the album today

Yes, £4.99 at most places. I got it from HMV.com last week. Great album.

Isn't the German album chart based on grossings?.
I think its nice someone that isn't being shoved in our faces constantly is getting to number 1. sure she had a little hype last summer but unlike other (lesser in my opinion) female artists like Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis who we literally couldn't walk out the house without someone raving about them, she hasn't had too much exposure.

She has had a lot more exposure in Scotland and is constantly played on local radio. This is her 5th week at Number 1 in Scotland.

The rest of the UK seemed to prefer Kate Nash when their albums were released last summer, but things now seem to be changing.

Personally, I think it is outrageous bordering on a disgrace that Amy MacDonald failed to pick up a single nomination at the BRITS nominations tonight.

I really hope the UK media pick up on this matter.

WHAT!!?, this is the most outraged I have been at this pathetic awards ceremony since 2004, which was when Feeder got nominated but the effin Darkness won the award. Still, Feeder are still here going strong, while the Darkness were a short-lived fad.

To be honest i think its about time album prices came right down. I'm sick of going into HMV and seeing an album priced at £14.99. Its cheaper going to ASDA!

Wasn't there something that new albums were now going to be £7 instead of the usual £9.99. They need to do something to entice buyers!

Run is a terrible choice of single for Amy...by far the worst track on the album

Barrowland Ballroom would have been far better or even Poison Prince

Given the nominations were being voted for over a month back, it's hardly surprising given her very limited impact up till then.

She still had a hell of a lot more of an impact than PJ Harvey and Bat For Lashes

Doesn't mean it's better though. Whilst the BRITS do generally go for sales it is most pleasing they've thrown in a couple of more obscure choices who've not been as successful because they haven't had the chance...

(I do think Amy should've been nominated though)
