But I was using Melanie C as an example so it was necessary.

No it wasn't necessary to refer to her music as "questionable" at all. The point was that Melanie has the balls to release her music and self fund it rather than needing some vehicle behind her in order to do it, not whether her music is good or bad.

No my point was Melanie C has the courage to release music even if it is questionable. I mean she ignores Stages herself these days and songs like Cool as you and that Jodie Harsh EP, I think she knows those were questionable releases in quality and style but she still released them. Again please don't tell me what MY opinion is.

Geri has sat on Man on the mountain for years and even now isn't just putting it out there traditionally. She is still hiding it behind some YouTube documentary series. It has a total lack of belief and conviction.

Again I'm not telling you what your opinion is. The first post was in jest. Then I was simply suggesting to you that instead of moaning about people commenting on your opinion maybe don't throw your opinions about when it is completely not needed.

In that situation when you didn't need to say "as much as Melanie's music quality can be questionable" you could have simply stated that Melanie has the balls to release her music. I mean unless you are already writing off Geri's music that you've not even heard yet, (if you're saying Melanie's released questionable music therefore Geri should be able to too)? If not again what was the point of your "opinion" at that time?

I'm still very murky on what all of this is. Is all this stuff of her going on various real-life adventures/recording music/spending time with family...going to be interspersed with the Queen Elizabeth material? I'll take a shot in the dark and say...maybe the show will have historical moments of Queen Elizabeth showing bravery, ambition, etc...and then Geri will try to take on that attribute in a real world scenario? It's a guess, but that'd make the most sense to me in terms of getting the music heard...unless the plan is for Geri's Queen Elizabeth to leap out of a carriage and go dancing through a crowd of peasants singing Get Involved.

I remember in the old DenDen, someone in Geri's camp used to come in and post about Geri's various bonkers TV show ideas. I guess this is the one that finally stuck.

Credit where it's due. The videography on this show looks sharp. And I like that Love and Light gets a little play in the video. She genuinely does have a lot of unreleased material that deserves to be heard.

One other thing. Maybe I just don't totally understand this, but does she not already have control of the Geri Halliwell page with nearly 50K followers? Why start a new YouTube page just for this?

I think it isn't hard to understand and you are being deliberately obtuse now.

Melanie C has released some questionable quality music but had the conviction to do it any way no matter the sales or critique. If Geri had the same conviction it wouldn't matter Man on the mountain quality or success she would have released it years ago.

Releasing it now and like this feels a cop out to me.

I'm not going to keep repeating myself. Thank you for your wonderful opinion of Melanie's music while you make such a valid point about Geraldine. I think it was unnecessary and that you are the one either being obtuse or deliberately wanting to wind certain people up, I'm not going to say anymore on the subject however I suggest you don't moan about people commenting on your wonderful opinions of music they love or enjoy if you choose to sprout them in this way. Don't like it then unless it's an opinions thread about the girls music, keep it to yourself. Cheers now.

Well it was very strange, her acting was pretty good though. Wonder when we will hear these songs.

No. I'm not going to back down on this. I didn't deliberately wind anyone up, I stated an opinion. If you want to say you think Man on the mountain will be as amazing as all Melanie C's out put I'm not going to stop you or tell you otherwise.

I'm glad her acting is getting a lot of positive feedback.

Acting is something I've never cared for from them but Geri got crucified for Sex in the City. Her acting in Trollied and now this has definitely been a big improvement.

In terms of Geri not just putting out music through an independent release...I'd say this.

I'm personally always being told...you're creative. Why don't you just quit your job and work for yourself? Straight up. I don't have the organizational skills for that. And maybe (on a far, far, far grander scale) that's Geri too. Geri is a creative with a genuine songwriting ability...but at least from what I can tell...she doesn't have the organization and focus of, say, Mel C. Not every single artist has the ability to create their own label and handle everything on their own.

Geri's life must place her ego in a strange place. She had an incredible chart run at one time. She can still sell out stadiums when paired with the other girls. And no record company will entertain the notion of working with her.

So. I mean. Whatever bonkers way she wants to get music out there, I'm game for it. Beats me how this whole thing will turn out...but to be totally honest, she's probably got a better chance of bringing attention to her music by doing an out-of-left-field Queen Elizabeth routine than just releasing a new Geri Halliwell album.

I actually don't think the idea is a bad one but the roll out thus far has been awful.

Imagine if she had done a 3 and a half minute trailer with clips from the documentary and one of the songs in the back ground with a cut away to Geri doing a voice over, "these past 25 years have been an amazing journey with you all, we have laughed, loved and cried together. I want to bring you a glimpse into my life, inspirational women and my music. Each week I'll upload an episode and new song that demonstrate that. Can't wait for you all to see and hear this new chapter, love Geri".

Then upload the song each week separately for those not bothered about the documentary. Half way through the 13 episodes put up a physical pre-order on her webstore and Amazon of a cd and vinyl of all 13 tracks together to be released after the final episode drops.

Let’s see what’s next. I’m glad Geri is not singing. What killed the sales of Schizophonic was that she couldn’t tour as she’s not able to own the stage by herself. She has proved since then that she can be a creative mind. A career as a writer would be amazing IMO. She’s intelligent, I don’t agree with her political views, but I can’t say she’s not smart. Her autobiography is the best one of the solo.

As for Melanie C, I also stopped buying her records after Reason. To me it’s not a matter of quality, just taste, I wanted her to be the indie chick she was with Ga Ga, Goin’ Down but it didn’t happen.

Is Melanie C the album my taste? Not at all, but it’s a good pop record. Who I Am is the best solo song since the Norther Star days. The reviews are the best ever for anything Spice related. But reviews are reviews, and what matters is people. Some people like her, some don’t. That’s it.

I also understand the frustration of some of the other girls fans, for them it’s easier to trash Melanie C when they haven’t had anything from their idols in ages..

In all honesty, that's fair. That plan would serve her better...though it seems she feels the public will have more interest in the video content over the new music. That may not be true in this forum. But it'd probably be true in general.

Anyway. I'm guessing some of this rollout would be handled by her management company?

I won't totally get into the weeds as to why I was there, but about a year ago, I actually made a stop into CTK Management outside of Nashville for work reasons. As far as I know...they still handle Geri. She's still on their site anyway. Their main lobby area actually had a framed shot of Geri at the '97 Brits. But. You could definitely tell the focus of the team was on Dolly Parton. Most of the walls were covered in Dolly material...joined by...oddly enough...things for the band Slipknot. I give the company credit. There's variety. Anyway. I can't totally blame the focus. Dolly is a legend and an empire. But I did kind of wonder how much focus would go into Geri projects...and why Geri would want a management group so far away and out of the country.

I think the fact she has 2 videos on her new YouTube channel and done an insta live and we are still not sure exactly what is going on shows this hasn't been handled well.

I feel it is more Geri than any management, she is so wrapped up in a theme and trying to be elaborate she hasn't thought how this would come across. The 2 videos on her channel have zero relevance to each other and no one knows why it is being called 'rainbow woman' outside of what the press has said. We don't know how or what medium the music will be released either.

In a world where there are a zillion things to grab your attention, having to invest this much time and energy to even know what on earth this is going to be will lose plenty of people's attention already.

I saw several minutes of it, love the cinematography and the way they styled everything, however, I can't help but feel a bit bizarre thinking this is the same person that did "look at me" video...

LOL

Random longtime fan observation...

Did you notice that the music toward the end of her The Queen Speaks video is the same as the music she used to open her 2004 GAY show?

It's a very famous piece of music. I can't remember the name off the top of my head. But very recognizable. Could possibly be coincidence. But I'd kinda like to think Geri was involved enough in both projects for her to pop up and say..."USE THIS!"

Oh, no. I watched it on mute.
