Sade is an albums act, the singles are all pleasant and laid-back with roots in 60's cocktail-jazz ("Easy Listening" in those days), but she re-invented it for a new generation - no-one was doing what she did in 1984 - but it makes more sense as a late-night mood album. Quality, but her best track was her cover of Timmy Thomas' brilliant Why Can't We Live Together (not a single) :)
No Ordinary Love is my fav single of hers

Smooth Operator didn't flop in the UK, didn't do as well as single #1 cos people bought the album instead, it was the album's 3rd single

but still peaked at #19

Bt all her albums are amazing, I'd recommend listening to all her albums, rather than singles, she's much more than the singles

Oh yeah I meant didn't do as well ha. Was surprised it only peaked at #19 when I looked up on polyhex chart runs.

She also has great album tracks like Jezebel, Pearls (from Love Deluxe) or Skin (from the last album)

It's certainly the slowest working act around, last 3 albums: 1 in 1992, 1 in 2000, 1 in 2010 ;)

The only one I know is Smooth Operator. It doesnt sound dated whatsoever, I always thought it was a 90s song not an 80s song!
Does anyone know why No Ordinary Love was re-released in 1993 having made the top 30 in 1992?

It was used in the film Indecent Proposal
