Form the ones I own I have to say Gwen Stefani. I like the album but it isn't as good as her debut. Others I own Maroon 5, KT Tunstall, The Killers, Scissor Sisters all equal or surpass their debuts imo.

I don't dislike any of them though.

Gwen Stefani for me - I only really like ''4 In The Morning''
I think Maroon 5' latest cuz it could have done better, much better

I thought NB was brilliant. Fair enough it wasn't musically as diverse as her debut but I deemed it to be a more than worthy follow-up. A lot of the lyrics for example on it were incredible, initially I was disappointed with it majorly, but as I gave it more of a chance Natasha cemented herself as one of my favourite artists.

I vote for Razorlight out of that list, they showed a bit of promise on their debut album but turned totally dire on this follow-up.

:o I wasn't overly won over by the lyrics...they all seem to be about the same thing (how to act in a relationship, getting a relationship, not having a relationship, past relationships etc...). Having said that, I'm not overly bothered by lyrics, but I found some of the tunes to be over produced without needing to be...after a while I thought it was quite good but then when I heard the new tracks on Pocketful Of Sunshine, that's when I fell back in love with Natasha...far superior to a lot of the deadwood on NB...

I mean I Wanna Have Your Babies, Tricky Angel, When You Know You Know are either bland or awful, the interlude I Think They're Thinking is appalling and the two secret tracks aren't up to much either...only How Do You Do, Soulmate, Say It Again, Backyard and (No More) What If's are of Unwritten standards in my opinion and 3 of those 5 made it onto PFOS anyway...

Plus the album art is :puke2: and the lead single choice will go down in history as one of the worst of all time

I agree the subject matter was similar throughout, but I loved how the lyrics were delivered in such a quirky and unique way that only Natasha could. Plus my favourite non-single 'Pirate Bones' wasn't about this and I thought the lyrics on that song were genius and inspirational. The tracks you listed as bad I pretty much agree with, they're quite dead wood, and the first single was a bit of a silly choice.

It's a shame it was riddled with deadwood because it did have some genuinely great tracks on there...but overall it got bad reviews because of the rubbish on it and the awful lead single...
Razorlight by a MILE.

Hot Chip's is a third album, btw.

So is Athlete's album.

From the list I would say NB.

But probably the worst follow up album of the last few years just has to be Kelly Clarkson's shockingly tune free My December (think of an Evanescence album without any remotely catchy melodies & hooks) which sold less than a quarter of the sales worldwide that Breakaway managed.

The excellent Breakaway album had 5 US Top 12 hit singles, in comparison My December's lead single Never Again reached #8 in the USA. It's follow up Sober only reached US#110 (In stark contrast to the equivalent 2nd single from Breakaway: Since U Been Gone which reached USA#2).

Whilst the 3rd single US single Don't Waste Your Time (2nd European single) failed to chart.

As a result of the album bombing down the chart and lack of ticket sales her Tour accompanying the album was cancelled.

Gwen's 2nd album is terrible, it just all sounds so messy, so i'd put that as the most disappointing from that list.

Not keen on Kasabian's first album, but then again I wasn't jumping for joy over the first. Kasier Chiefs 2nd album is awful but I tired so much of the 1st album after a few listens. Franz Ferdinand's 2nd album was a strange one - it got a lot of stick from the critics, but I didn't think it was that bad. It had a lot of decent songs in it but most of them just lacked something.

franz ferdinand for me i found the 2nd album terrible and i just didnt enjoy it at all,for me i loved ta dah by the sister sisters it was a brilliant follow up nqatasha bedingfield was disappointing and gwen stefani was very disappointing apart from sweet escape the album was a huge let down
Yes NB was dire compared to Unwritten! Unwritten was AMAZING! But I voted for Gwen! ^_^
NB by Natasha is very weak compared to Unwritten...luckily she has redeemed herself in the US with Pocketful Of Sunshine which is a hell of a lot better

I agree with you on that. For all the time Natasha had to record a great follow-up album it still didn't come really close to Unwritten. Yeah, and not to mention that the cover art sucked horribly. Some of the tracks were more fillers and not that great whereas Unwritten didn't really have any fillers in my opinion. I'm glad when Pocketful of Sunshine was released here they took out some of the dull tracks and replaced them with much better tracks. It was nice to see much better cover artwork too even if they did use the same thing for her Live DVD.

I'd say Gwen, but Id say most of the ones you mentioned have been awful compared to their debuts,

I expected much more from Gwen, Natasha, Kaiser Cheifs, Killers, Hard-Fi and Scissor Sisters who all had amazing first albums imo and pretty much dire 2nd albums

i love sweet escape :w00t: i remember when it was released it just seemed to appear out of nowhere. I bought it after hearing 'the sweet escape' and i love it. The only :puke2: track is 'now that you got it' (i even love wind it up!)

Worst second album has to be Keane. I bought it on the day of release. I sold it on eBay not long after. I got about £8 for it :D
