Posted April 28, 200817 yr Coldplay are to play two free shows to celebrate the release of their new album 'Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends'. The band will play London's Brixton Academy on June 16, and New York's Madison Square Garden a week later (June 23). Fans are advised to keep checking the band's official website www.coldplay.com and not to contact the venue box offices, as no tickets will be made available for sale. Meanwhile, the release of the record, the follow-up to 2005's 'X&Y', has been brought forward four days in the UK to bring it into line with global release dates. The release date is now June 12. As previously revealed on NME.COM, Coldplay will release the first single from the album free with the NME. The 7-inch vinyl will include the single, 'Violet Hill', backed by another song, 'A Spell A Rebel Yell', which won't be available anywhere else. To ensure you get your copy of the exclusive Coldplay vinyl you can pre-order your issue, out on May 10, from NME.COM at the NME online shop. The single can also be downloaded from Coldplay's website from 12.15pm tomorrow (April 29). It will also get its first play tomorrow at noon. ^_^
April 28, 200817 yr good god no, I must have been the only person in the UK to be over the moon that Crazy Frog kept this lot off the number one when they released Speed Of Sound. It's a shame they've become way too over-exposed, because now i cannot bear to listen to any of their records, let alone their albums, so i know here and now that I will dislike this track regardless of how good it is, and hopefully, though very unlikely, it will just about scrape top 5 and drop like a stone......
April 28, 200817 yr I DONT KNOW IF THEY WILL GET NUMBER 1 but i for sure am hoping they will They usually reach n. 2 let's hope for their first n. 1 and for other classy singles like truoble, yelllow , speed of sound and talk
April 28, 200817 yr Author Urgh... :( Although it'll only be available this week on Coldplay's website free. It'll go on sale on all digital retailers next week, it'll still be top 5 minimum. Edited April 28, 200817 yr by RabbitFurCoat
April 28, 200817 yr I prefer Coldplay to Wiley, so I hope they have their first #1 they deserve it. Compared to Wiley , Coldplay are Mozart and Beethoven assembled
April 28, 200817 yr The X&Y era was fabulous (I'm not fussed on them pre-2005) so I hope this is as good. Great band. ^_^
April 28, 200817 yr Suppose it depends if its good or not lol On the positive, they get the hype around the song, on the negative, they lose a lot of sales. I'd never pay for something that i know had been free a couple of weeks ago aswell! Edited April 28, 200817 yr by Robintime11
April 28, 200817 yr they're really harming their chances at a first number one...who will pass up the opportunity to download it for free only to pay for it a week later? I'll even download it myself out of curiosity and I'm not a Coldplay fan...

I'll even download it myself out of curiosity and I'm not a Coldplay fan... Well Radiohead have still sold about 150k copies otheir album despite it being downloaded by millions of people worldwide last year. It'll still get bought...
April 28, 200817 yr yes, the physical will get bought when that comes out but why would anyone pay to download something they already downloaded for free?
April 28, 200817 yr Author Definitely... not everyone will know about it, it will grow on people in the future, In Rainbows still topped the iTunes download chart though I never understood why.
April 28, 200817 yr Surely it will be chart ineligible like Madonna - Hey You & the Ting Tings - Great DJ were as it is being released initially for free like those two tracks were?
April 28, 200817 yr it could well be Rich...perhaps the OCC will bend the rules especially for Coldplay
April 28, 200817 yr In Rainbows still topped the iTunes download chart though I never understood why. that's true...is In Rainbows still available for free download now or was it a limited thing?
April 28, 200817 yr Author it could well be Rich...perhaps the OCC will bend the rules especially for Coldplay Perhaps not bend, but change... It's a stupid rule anyway and it'll need something high profile before it's stopped...
April 28, 200817 yr no i definently doubt it wiley the next one i thinking I hope not. But then the chavs do seem to be controlling the charts these days - I don't know anyone who liked Soulja Boy, H Two O or Heartbroken, yet all of them were huge.
