which song?
oh yeah, Toca's Miracle - it was on 530,742 last year. Looks like a mistake...

Nickelback's How You Remind Me is also wrong, its sales have increased.

Another OCC blooper?

Interesting chart - I wonder when/if there will be another million selling single? The last one was released in 2005 (I think), even a song that was number one for umpteen

weeks "Umbrella" 'only' sold 563,000.

this list seems incorrect. Where the hell is Fragma?

yeap, also Dj Otzi's sales are wrong, he sold less than 760,000

Talk about nit-picking a chart  its full of OCC bloopers, Nickelback looks a bit wrong for sure
it's really impressive that "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" got so high on the list without any gimmicks. most of the songs above her were tied into a reality show or special event or something. $ucce$$
only oops i did it again for britney, where is toxic, everytime???

Despite both of them reaching number one, I don't think either sold close to 375k; not sure 'Everytime' even made 225k.

only oops i did it again for britney, where is toxic, everytime???

Toxic and Everytime sold less than 300,000 - the second biggest song of 2004 was the Cha Cha Slide, which from memory, sold 350k.

Thanks Suggy for taking over when I disappeared. :D

So Shaggy is the highest selling non-charity/ gimmick/ reality show record. Our top 10 selling songs aren't really all that great are they? :(

I'm surprised the Victoria Beckham song sold that much!

Thanks for posting, was surprised to see Scissor Sisters so high up the chart. I only like about 10 of these songs!

only oops i did it again for britney, where is toxic, everytime???

Toxic had sold 258,000 by the end of 2004 so it was some way off making the list, despite being one of the top 10 sellers of the year.

it's really impressive that "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" got so high on the list without any gimmicks.

Doesn't hardly wearing any clothes count as a gimmick?

And talk about a sh!t top 10. These are the only ones I like:

1.Will Young - Evergreen/Anything Is Possible (1,789 million)

6.Kylie Minogue - I Can't Get You Out Of My Head (1,084 million)

8.Hear'Say - Pure & Simple (1,079 million)

Surely Duffy belongs in this list now!

Whoops didn't see this at the bottom! Will still be climbing the chart though.

S Club sales is now confirmed as 488.000

thanks to a member called MusicWeek on haven forum

I notice in this chart that the earlier years of the decade (2000-2003) are far more represented than the later years (2006-2008) which is probably down to the deflation of singles sales. By using Excel I generated what I think the sales list would look like if sales had remained constant since 2000:

Basically by taking year 2000 as '1' I then multiplied sales in 2001 by 1.11, in 2002 by 1.22, in 2003 by 1.33 and so on up to 2008 by 1.88. So if Duffy had released 'Mercy' in 2000, all things being equal her sales would have been around 711,260 rather than the 378,000 she has sold in 2008.

I think this chart is more representative of the sales popularity of songs in the last 9 years. Any opinions?
