did anyone see this performance on Jools Holland the other night:

good song, seems like she's gone down the Duffy route with the big brass instruments, although you could argue Texas got their first with Black Eyed Boy...quite looking forward to her solo album if its like this song, hope she doesn't go the same way as Andrea Corr...

I cant wait for this to be released - Its amazing and i hope it goes top ten
Andrea Corr :(

Yeah but i dont think Andrea had a strong lead single and i think Sharleen does. Not getting much airplay and i havent seen a video yet though!

Shame On You was absolutely terrible. :heehee: This is really strong, but the video doesn't do it much justice, barr maybe the last minute.

right ok...so you can't really hear the first verse in the video because she speaks over it

Shame On You was quite good but Andrea's album had far better tracks on it, it was actually a surprisingly good and highly underrated album

The only thing I didnt like about Shame On You were the lyrics... the song itself was great, and showed she could do different genres quite well.

her whole album was a mixed bag, there was some electropop on there, as well as a couple of songs which wouldn't have sounded out of place on Talk On Corners
The only decent songs on Ten Feet High for me were Take Me I'm Yours and Champagne From A Straw, and they should've been the first two singles in that order. Both amazing.

I also liked Ten Feet High and Stupidest Girl In The World, which were like classic Corrs songs. and Ideal World was nice too

I agree 'Take Me I'm Yours' was one of the best tracks, but I don't think such an obvious cover as her debut single would have done her any favours.

As for the Sharleen song... not bad.

she couldn't have done much worse can she...Shame On You missed the top 75 completely :( I don't think any song would have done well for her...it just wasn't the right music climate for her to have success with that sound...

Sharleen's clever, picking up the 60's influences, but I still think it will flop as it won't get much airplay :(

Take Me I'm Yours might have stood the best chance, but even then I think she'd have missed the top 75 in all likelihood.

Champagne Through A Straw was OK, but lacked the bite that the subject really required. Pink tackled it better on Stupid Girls.

LOVED Shame On You, Ten Feet High, Anybody There and Stupidest Girl In The World.

As for Sharleen, sadly this IS going to be an Andrea Corr scenario. If she's lucky, she might reach the very lower ends of the top 75 with the single, but not much more. The album...maybe top 40, beyond that it's hard to predict.

I'm not convinced All The Times I've Cried is that good to be honest, it sounds like a B-side from White On Blonde.

Both of you guys mentioned my favorites from her album in addition to "Anybody There"

Sharleen's song is so Amy Winehouse/Duffy style

She did a short 3 song acoustic set on the main stage on saturday and was very good.

i quite like the single ^_^
