July 9, 200817 yr That Velvet thing is SO generic. Really not a loss that it's not been playlisted, it could be by absolutely anybody.
July 9, 200817 yr Well, yes? :heehee: Body On Me is absolutely excellent, a truly refreshing Summer song. What on EARTH makes Fix Me stand out? Certainly not the girl-next-door vocals or Euro-trash-for-a-fiver beats.
July 9, 200817 yr Author and what makes those 2 stand out? I think they're both unoriginal songs too... difference of opinion. I happen to love Fix Me.
July 9, 200817 yr I agree. And I believe the Bob Sinclar track will be Hard2Beats first flop. didn't realise that was on Hard2Beat :o it's a good song but I haven't heard it anywhere...
July 9, 200817 yr Author didn't realise that was on Hard2Beat :o it's a good song but I haven't heard it anywhere... Whilst they did playlist the last few Bob Sinclar tracks, after almost a year since his last single and this followup, I dont think it would've gotten playlisted if it wasnt signed to Hard2Beat. They're like the new Data.
July 9, 200817 yr how odd of them to now add kid rock as soon as he hits the charts i reckon they were planning to ignore it just like a load of other
July 9, 200817 yr Surely the label spent the 400,000 pounds wisely That isnt how the playlist works, the songs are chosen by the dj's and no money is involved with the Radio 1 playlists. I just think it stands up against the other songs on the B-list and is a good pop song - thats why its there.

I just think it stands up against the other songs on the B-list and is a good pop song - thats why its there. How do you know? I didn't think it was the DJs, it's the producers I think because most of the DJs hated Basshunter and "Now You're Gone" so I doubt they'd have playlisted it if they had the choice.
July 9, 200817 yr Yeah, it is the producers i think but then the dj's have their say on who they play from the list. No money involved and where did this 'myth' that 400k is being spent on The Saturdays come from?!
July 9, 200817 yr No money involved You are so naive  Of course it's not the normal and usual process, but it does happen that sometimes label pay radios to play songs ;)
July 9, 200817 yr I'm shocked to see coolnav and Xmas Bertie having different opinions on something. :o
July 9, 200817 yr The DJs never get a say in on the playlist people, it's decided by some of the producers and the Radio 1 management, and they don't decide the playlists on DJ choices at all, that's what the Record of The Weeks are for and the daytime DJs have to stick to a specific schedule bar Jo Whiley normally, who is allowed to play 1/2 tracks of her choice each show normally. And i'm sure sometimes record companys pay Radio 1 to get their songs playlisted... i'm not entirely sure though.

I just think it stands up against the other songs on the B-list and is a good pop song - thats why its there. Of course money is spent on an act to get them playlisted! The Saturdays have done it as have other acts Ladyhawke and Noah and the Whale other recent examples. Remain naïve and ignorant though if you really wish.
July 9, 200817 yr :o :w00t: The Script are A-List  :w00t: and Of Course Cascada :o :o :o    As you can tell, Im a BIT excited :heehee:
July 9, 200817 yr Where did this 'myth' that 400k is being spent on The Saturdays come from?! Of course they're spending huge amounts launching them! Do you really believe a label just releases a song to promo and it just picks up. Money's involved with both TV and radio. If the quality/hype is great enough then things can pick up of their own accord (Robyn for example) but for a pop act like The Saturdays throwing huge amounts of money at them to get them noticed is a necessity in a music climate ill-fitting to their sound (for the time being at least).
July 10, 200817 yr I know this, i am not naive im just not very sure if Radio 1 adopt a policy of playlisting songs if payed to. I do understand acts need money to push them, i am requesting where the actual figure of 400k came from, thats all.

Remain naïve and ignorant though if you really wish. Good point there mate... But it's not about the money that we should be angry, but for the quality of the Controllers :P The Saturdays and Ladyhawke are quite good acts, and I prefer hearing them on Radio 1 than all the same random acts they like to play all day long <_< So, if a band has to pay to get playlisted on Radio 1 I consider it's unfair for the crappy thing Controllers do, not for the bands that somentimes have really good songs ;) But I thrust your theory, and I'm sure they are money involved considering the mass listening of this Radio 1  xox.
