Which recent single choices (from anyone) do you feel were a mistake??

i.e. there was better on the album to choose from - also name the song you think should have been released instead.

^ Yep I agree with that one, also I'll Be Lovin U Long Time should have been changed to Side Effects.

Rihanna's pretty much f***ed up her single releases with GGGB too, Shut Up & Drive shouldn't have been 2nd, nor should it have been followed by Hate That I Love You.

I agree that HTILY shouldn't have been released, I think Shut Up & Drive was a decent choice though. Although I still would have took Breakin' Dishes over SUAD anyday

HTILY was a good single choice and did pretty well. SUAD was a dreadful single choice - Breakin Dishes should have been released over it.

Cascada's last 2 releases have been the wrong choice. Perfect Day and Endless Summer would have been better.

Britney's - Break The Ice?

Mariah - I'll Be Loving You Long Time - Side Effects easily.

Girls Aloud- Sexy no no no - close to love would have been better imo

SUAD did very well, there was a good chance of a flop considering Umbrella was still around, but she avoided it. HTILTY didn't do too well, but it did hang around and was different.

Duffy - Stepping Stone

Should have been Hanging On Too Long or Delayed Devotion IMO.

I like these endless single threads. I suggest the next one be titled 'Songs released in Germany which were right but which should'nt have been the English single and which should've had an alternate video in Australia. Genius.

To answer the question, I can't think of many...Adele should've gone with Hometown Glory over Cold Shoulder, but I'm not an especially big fan. And perhaps Dannii should've held off releasing Touch Me Like That, much as I adore it.

-Kate Nash should have released Skeleton Song or We Get On, or re-released Birds at some point...Pumpkin Soup and Mouthwash were odd single choices...

-Cascada should have released Perfect Day and Runaway over What Do You Want From Me? and Because The Night

-Amy MacDonald should have released Barrowland Ballroom over Run

-Gabriella Cilmi should have released Don't Want To Go To Bed Now or Got No Place To Go before Save The Lies...

-David Jordan should have released any track on his album over Move On

Sara Bareilles - Bottle It Up

Like the song but she should have gone with Morningside, Come Round Soon, Fairytale or Gravity. It's flopped in the US too which proves it wasn't a good choice. :(

The Feeling shouldnt have chosen 'I Thought It Was Over' and 'Without You' as the singles. They should have started with 'Turn It Up' and then followed it with 'Join With Us'

Cascada - Although I really really like WDYWFM?, I thought releasing it as a single was a bit :manson: and 'Because The Night' although I could tell they were gonna release it, they should have replaced both of them with (In this order) 'Runaway' and then 'Perfect Day'

HTILY was a good single choice and did pretty well. SUAD was a dreadful single choice - Breakin Dishes should have been released over it.

HTILY didn't do that well here and like someone said, SUAD still was a really big top 5 hit while 'Umbrella' was still around.

NONSENSE. Rihanna has been pretty much the biggest popstar in the past two years, and that's down to her single releases.

She's released a decent variety which have opened her up to audiences outside of the generic RnB fans; Shut Up And Drive did a good job of consolidating her popularity with the pop fans after Umbrella and showed there was more to her than the one song.

Shut Up And Drive and Hate That I Love You may have been eclipsed maybe by the success of her 2008 singles. But would she be having a successful 2008 without SUAD and HTILY, or would she have faded after Umbrella and gone back to releasing slop like We Ride?

Hate That I Love You is what persuaded me to buy Rihanna's album actually...it showed me and probably other people that there were many different styles on Good Girl Gone Bad

it may have only got to No.15 but it sold a good 100k+ and probably did wonders for the album

Yeah if i were Rihanna i'd rather have a #14 song that stayed in the top 15 for 4 weeks than an #8 song that only stayed in the top 15 for 2 weeks. And it persuaded me to buy the album too.

HTILY is brill it was definately a standout on the album when i first heard the album. I really like it. I dont get why so many on here dont like it

I grew to like it in the end a bit... but it shouldn't have been released I don't think. Or if they insisted on doing so, should have released 'Don't Stop The Music' third and that fourth.

I think DSTM was the right choice for that time of year...it was a big xmas/early 2008 party tune...I don't think a ballad would have done very well in Jan/Feb for Rihanna...
