Faithless was going to have a number one single with "One Step Too Far", featuring Dido, in 2002, acording to the midweeks, but it was deleted by the label during the week to give space to Westlife to have their 18348489398th number one single which came out at the same week, so it could only peak at #6 with the remaining copies in stores, and feel completely out of the Top 75 in just 2 weeks. Shocking. The label said it was to boost Faithless albums´ sales - which is bollocks, because the album version of that song was completely different from the radio edit/single version.

Wasn't it Unchained Melody by Gareth Gates that week? If so its still tragic-especially since it had already been no.1 for weeks.

Sash! had 5 No.2's in the 1990's without a No.1 but he's back finally with a new single on Hard2Beat called Raindrops (Encore Une Fois) which is a vocal version of his first hit, so it could be a sixth No.2 for the German :heehee:

I remember this chart well because I was on holiday at the time and I remember being shocked that X Press 2 were running Gareth close for the No.1 as I didn't think Lazy was going to be very big at all...

Don't think so  90% of this stuff doesn't really get a full release (ok it gets a cd release but its a no video and a bit of R1 support and thats it. It evaporates.)

It's got a video, and it's being quite heavily hyped by Hard2Beat as their next big release...and then they've got a Sash! greatest hits album out at the end of October...don't underestimate this one

Nick Cave has never had a number 1 either here or in his native Australia the closest he got on the album chart was No 4 UK No 2 Aus with his most recent Dig Lazarus Dig.

The closest he got on the singles chart is Where the wild Roses Grow (with Kylie Minogue) No 8 UK No 2 Aus.

Pearl Jam have also never had a UK number 1 the closest they got was number 2 with Vs.

Add Soundgarden to that list closest No 4 with Superunknown.

unfortuantely Where The Wild Roses Grow didn't even do that well here :( it made No.11.

Ah H2B it must be huge then :P. Brilliant

Victoria Beckham the only Spice Girl to not have a number one

ah but she has had a No.7 and a No.23 lol

Victoria Beckham  the only Spice Girl to not have a number one

However, she happens to be the only solo Spice Girl with a 100% top 10 record. The only time she missed it was with Headlines and that wasn't solo

Nice way of keeping an unbroke run of top 10 singles... not release stuff anymore...

Quite a few major acts have only had a single No1 and just escape this thread:

Prince

Eric Clapton

Lionel Richie

Given the amount of hits they have racked up it's pretty shocking they only ever managed one number one.

Back to acts with none

Paul Weller has never had a solo no1 single but did have 4 No1 singles as part of The Jam and has had No1 albums including 22 Dreams this year.

You can see how their fanbase has built up. All their good songs are from the 80's but they've just gone downhill fast but their fanbase has assured that they've sold well. And Chinese democracy started recording a few months after i was born
