September 6, 200816 yr Yes, and it fact, Dido has 2 albums that sold 3 million each in the UK. She´s a more stablished artist then James Blunt, because he was following his debut album. Many artists achieve massive sales with their debut and fail with the followup, but after 2 massive albums, probabilities of a flop become much smaller. In fact, I think she could sell 1 million of this album in UK just out of hype and fanbase, no matter how bad the singles were. But if the 2nd single is as commercial as her previous stuff, maybe this can become her 3rd massive blockbuster. I think the song goes Top 5 easily, based on her name alone. The Verve also came back with a rather weak single after years, and still managed to peak in the Top 5 with the lead single and spend a few weeks inside the Top 10. Dido is more stablished then The Verve, and I think her chances of sucess are even bigger. I believe this single is an experiment. If it doesn´t work that well, she must have some more commercial stuff in hand for the 2nd or 3rd singles. I agree and I think she'll easily sell well over a million before Christmas, Dido is very easy on the ear and will always sell well.
September 6, 200816 yr It was difficult to listen to all 4 minutes. Its so bland and bare. The first minute was :coffee:. I've had to put Cafe Del Mar on just to cheer myself up :P
September 6, 200816 yr  I reckon Top 10. Whilst she had 2 major selling albums a few years back there is a much more competetive market now especially with the downloads. Also, the song, in my opinion, isn't that good on First listen. TBH, A bit of a let down compared to her old stuff.
September 6, 200816 yr Author Well, people are sayng the Sugababes must go top 3 with an awful song just because of their fanbase... If that´s the case, using the same logic, Dido should easily go # 1, since Sugababes never even had a million selling album in the UK???? I think this song has massive adult airplay. No wonder Pink or Sugababes fans are not going to like it. But there is enormous hype building up, and she is being promoted as a "cool" artist. She doesn´t even appear on the CD cover, took 5 years to followup her previous album, and worked with Brian Eno from U2, Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mack) and Jon Brion, play all instruments in the studio... She´s the exact oposite of the typical UK pop: sexy picture on the CD cover, one new album every year, work with faceless pop producers... She´s the oposite of Girls Aloud and Sugababes, and I can see that her main fanbase is NOT in pop music forums... This album is already legendary before it´s even out... September 7, 200816 yr Author Top 15. You wish. Dido would get Top 15 if she released an acoustic cover version of Macarena as a come back...
September 8, 200816 yr Author The song was officialy sent to radio stations today... Instantaneously added to Capital FM, BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2 playlist.... HIT!
September 24, 200816 yr Author This song has shoot at #2 in itunes Spain and Italy without any advert, or any promo. The music video was not even released, and Spain and Italy were never among her biggest markets (her last album was "only" Top 5 there, when it was #1 in some 30 other countries...). So I guess this has big chances of going # 1 in UK when it´s promoted and after a video is released!!! People have been underestimating the potential of this song!
October 8, 200816 yr Author Well, it´s 2 biggest competitors were Girls Aloud and Leona. Leona was put forward 1 or 2 weeks, and the Girls Aloud track will be released a week sooner, so it will not coincide anymore. Still, she´s an albums act and her biggest focus is not to produce singles hits. I mean, what´s the point having a #1 single and selling a mere 500,000 copies of the album? That´s hardly any money to be made from the singles market...
October 8, 200816 yr Author By the way, she is higher then Girls Aloud on airplay now... She is #25 (up from #63), and GA is #30... who would have thought? I think this easily jumps into the Top 10 in 1 or 2 weeks...
October 8, 200816 yr I can't believe they chose this as a lead off track. Single - Top 10 (she's an albums act) Album - gazillions
October 8, 200816 yr SHOCKING comeback song - I reckon the song will peak about 8 but the album will sell bucket loads!!
October 8, 200816 yr Top 5 Love the tone & clarity of her vocals but not sure about the single. Her album will be massive.
October 8, 200816 yr Author The fact that some people find it boring won´t keep it from sucess... Min you that it has been Top 10 on itunes in practically every country it has been released, except USA, and #1 in Italy and Greece! That´s with almost no airplay and no video. If it is released after promotion kicks in and a video is premiered, then it will have even bigger chances in UK. I just don´t see it missing the Top 5... the hype around a Dido comeback should be enough to Top 5, and now it´s really starting to have airplay (up #63>#25 on UK airplay chart).
