September 14, 200818 yr 37 (from 69) MIA - Paper Planes [D] http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/PREMIAKALA.JPG Chart Run: 69-37 [2 wks] Release date: 13-10-2008 Video here: 7sei-eEjy4g Discussion Thread Here This is an interesting record from M.I.A. a song that was used for the ads for the film "Pineapple Express" and was based on the Sri Lanka's singer attempt to try to get a visa to record her latest album and which samples the Clash recording "Straight To Hell". Also in the clip for the song did I see on the Beastie Boys make a cameo?
September 14, 200818 yr I really like Glasvegas, their eponymous debut album is a pretty good 8/10 album, and musically they remiind me of My Bloody Valentine meets Jesus & Mary Chain with some great lyrics & melodies thrown in to the mix.
September 14, 200818 yr btw why has Sam Sparro re-entered the top 40? I can't remember but I think it was used in a tv show or something probably x factor last saturday NOT yesterday  Please tell me Flo Rida is not Top30?! :puke2: Why not? In The Ayer is brilliant and deserves to be more successful than 'Low' although it looks unlikely :(
September 14, 200818 yr Author I love how Glasvegas sound so Scottish - some singers manage to sing without accents but there is a trend for strong sounding accents in songs these days (like Arctics for instance).
September 14, 200818 yr Author I am loving all these new entries! (well, not all the songs!) Its about time we had a clear out.
September 14, 200818 yr 29 (from 46) Flo Rida Feat. will.i.am - In The Ayer [P] http://a1.phobos.apple.com/us/r40/Music/f5/7d/b1/mzi.ktgesuhn.100x100-75.jpg Chart Run: 48-52-53-46-29 [5 wks] Release date: 8-9-2008 Availability: in stock Number of Discs: 1 Catalogue Number: AT0322CD1 Label: ATLANTIC Video here: zlpNK9UKB5c
September 14, 200818 yr Flo Rida feat Will I Am – In The Ayer :puke: At least Low was (annoyingly) catchy.
September 14, 200818 yr 35 Elbow - One Day Like This [P] http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1767730.JPG Chart Run: 39-44-63-xx-50-62-xx(8 wks]-35 [6 wks] Release date: 2-6-2008 Availability: back in stock in 7 days Number of Discs: 1 Catalogue Number: 1767730 Label: POLYDOR Formed in Manchester, U.K., in the late 1990s, this five-piece rock outfit hit big with their debut album, ASLEEP AT THE BACK. Combining socially relevant lyrics concerning the contemporary British experience with complex, passionate music, they drew comparisons with both classic rock acts of previous decades--including Pink Floyd and Talk Talk--and more contemporary bands like Radiohead, while pursuing a more mainstream path than experimentally inclined millennial bands like Sigur Ros and Godspeed You Black Emperor. - HMV Video here: EG0MrX3Qjcs track listing 1. One Day Like This 2. Lullaby Is this tune being re-issued a single?
September 14, 200818 yr This is just trash, although it reminds me a tad of 'Let Me Think About It'
September 14, 200818 yr Author Is this tune being re-issued a single? No, its been downloaded alot this week as Elbow won the Mercury Music Award. I suspect that it won't be properly re-issued and will drop next week.
September 14, 200818 yr Flo Rida isn't my thing, but I've liked all 3 singles a lot more than most of that particular genre. 'Elevator' was by far the best though.
September 14, 200818 yr 28 (from 21) Duffy - Stepping Stone [P] http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1780731.JPG Chart Run: 62-49-21-28 [4 wks] Release date: 1-9-2008 Availability: in stock Number of Discs: 1 Catalogue Number: 1780731 Label: POLYDOR Straight out of Nefyn, North Wales, (Aimee Anne) Duffy's smoky retro-soul has earned her comparisons with blue-eyed soul legend, Dusty Springfield. Voted the second hottest new talent in the BBC's 'Sound for 2008' poll after fellow soul girl Adele, her debut album ROCKFERRY featured Bernard Butler (Suede, McAlmont & Butler) as performer and co-writer. - HMV Video here: 3NFeBlLWhzI Discussion Thread Here
