razorlight were on j.ross last night though, they might fall during the week.

I still think GA will have that extra edge, the xfactor gets like 11 million viewers doesnt it? And isnt j.ross like 2 million?

Its ubelieveable to think that over 10 million people watch a show and then acts struggle to sell more than 60k in the whole week after!!!

Thats not strictly true from last week. The first Live X Factor last week got around 10-11 million viewers but by the time the results show was on it was down to 8 million. Its still high though, but all I'm saying is its not gonna be as mega high as what everyone thinks

Instead of a not rated by anyone because it's $h!t pop comeback?

It baffles me why people wonder why things they don't like do well! It's almost like people have different tastes :o :o :o

ouch.

it just seems that 2008 is the year that good pop flops (Avenue - Last Goodbye springs to mind) and awful rock comebacks do far too well...I'm well aware that people have different tastes, and I'm hardly shocked that it's doing well, I'm just not impressed...to give it credit, it's not half as bad as the absolutely atrocious Never Miss A Beat and Shock Of The Lightning...sub-standard, not b-side worthy, material is clearly the way forward for Kaiser Chiefs and Oasis in 2008!

to clarify (:P) what I'm attempting to say in a roundabout way is this:

a great new pop band could have the best new pop song ever and fail to chart because of no existing fanbase, no media support etc...whereas a rock band like Oasis and Kaiser Chiefs can literally release anything as their new single and go top ten with it and it's that that bugs me, not the fact that people don't necessarily like the same songs as I do.

Coolnav i think on radio the physical release date is ocassionally mentioned, which the general public interpret as the DL release date too and a song will often rise on itunes on physical release week.

Lol! I liked both of those ones! Kaisers' album is A LOT better than their last one too, Oasis always never come back with anything 'amazing' but this is the first time I'd call a comeback from them 'good' for quite a while now! Girls Aloud have had much better songs than The Promise and Sugababes have had much better songs than Girls so you could say pop hasn't had that much to shout either! I consider Kaisers to be britain's best pop band anyway! Rock/Indie has had some good comebacks like Bloc Party and Metallica for example too! I get what you're saying with some good pop flopping.. Annie's album release getting pushed around springs to mind :(

I realise my previous statement came across harsher than I imagined btw :P

I'm fed up with hearing about that Girl Aloud song!! It has a good thirty second opening, but then it goes absolutely nowhere and ends up being their weakest effort since 'Seize The Day' (If you ignore that awful cover of Walk This Way they did with the SB's.) Razorlight all the way for me.. :)

Just seen this part which is VERY true I must agree  Oasis could fart into a microphone and STILL have a #1 album I would agree and I'm underwhelmed by their new album despite some good tracks on it but if you build a strong fanbase then they'll be a lot of them that'll buy it just because it's you! I have many singles from band I love with songs I hated! Take Funeral For A Friend's awful last album as an example!

Now you've that I do get your point but the Sugababes are a brand nowadays and still get top ten singles with whatever they have if you want a pop act who are like that!

But if the promise is one of their weakest efforts, why is it their only song ever to be a-list on both r1 and r2?

Also, i wont believe leona is available until i see it because i checked intunes yesterday and it said it wasnt available until the 3rd of nov. So unless its changed today, it wont be on.

I haven't heard their albums so am in no position to comment, I judge every song on its own merits, so if Oasis or Kaisers ever release a song I like, I'll be sure to let everyone know :D Human is the first Killers song I've liked for example! I think The Promise is brilliant, but I love that sort of horn-heavy, 60's/70's influenced laid back pop...Girls on the other hand is appalling, and this is coming from a big Sugababes fan. Annie flopping is an absolute crime, her new album is excellent and it pains me to see artists like her failing to reach the top 40 when The Kooks can have three awful top 40 hits in a row just because they have a fanbase who are still willing to buy their singles physically. Obviously I don't deny there have been some great rock/indie comebacks, the obvious one being Kings Of Leon, but also The Killers, Bloc Party as you say, and I like the new Snow Patrol single a lot too...

don't worry, my statements often need editing so that they don't sound harsh  it's hard for me to portray something I feel strongly about sometimes without making it look like I'm trying to make everyone agree with my views, which is not the case at all...I'm just sharing my opinion but often it looks as if I'm stating it as fact -_-

Apparently Razorlight single isn't PHYSICALLY out until the 27th though, so it's a plus for GA ^_^

So what? Radio play doesn't always = quality. Why else would c**p like Basshunter end up on there. Either Girls Aloud have very good publicists, or because Cheryl is now a regular on the X factor it's given them more mainstream appeal. I go to quite a lot of music forums and apart from their official forum and Popjustice (where every member seems to jack off every time Nicole blows her nose) no-one is that overly impressed with the song. Just because they're set to perform on a popular TV show it doesn't mean the song is destined for No 1 if the public don't take to it. Anyway, we'll see next week. But let me just say in advance.. COME ON LEONA & RAZORLIGHT!! :P

Is it wrong of me as a GA fan that i am  at that? :(

lol you only just realised that other artists fans and forums love to hate on GA? Thats nothing new, believe me.

No-one is saying it will go to number one just because of x-factor, leon is the evidence of that. But the promise is already number one on pre orders for hmv and amazon and is getting good airplay. People are just saying that the x-factor will strongly help its success.

And face facts, songs that go on xfactor do perform well. Bleeding love, call the shots, wow.

All three would have done well without X-Factor.

Agreed, but would they have done as well without x-factor.

No worries guys, at best they'll get their 4th #1 hit, at worst they'll get their 19th consecutive top10 hit ! :P It's win win for the girls

The general reaction to this song is nowhere near as positive as it was for say, Call The Shots or Biology, both of which were far better. Plus, I don't believe physical singles count for much these days other than a few thousand copies which won't change the chart position much at all. It's how it performs on I Tunes that really counts. I don't hate Girls Aloud at all.. I just think this is their weakest comeback single yet, and along with Sugababes's Girls are two very disappointing returns for our two leading girl groups. The Saturdays's recent releases have really outdone both, in my humble opinion. Watch out ladies.. your crown is slipping.. B)

iTunes is working again... apart from Popularity Bars...

Oh and it's STILL H*t 'n' Cold

Razorlight is almost at 2! :o

And I like the way Bertie talks about positions of GA: it's not such an important thing to be frustrated about. I think "Promise" will go to ## 2 or 3 in both iTunes and official charts.
